Referee on the night would feel right at home in the Premiership..we were denied plenty of 'Serie A' (and legitimate) fouls because of this - including that questionable Traore challenge inside the box, I think it was on Ale.

The refs biggest flaw is his complete ignorance of the passive offside rule.

Del Piero wasn't that bad IMO, he missed a one-on-one and he scored. He also had some nice combo's but alas he also makes plenty of bad passes. In a way going from quite positive to quite negative. Zlatan wasn't too bad either, considering the service they had, but he didn't manage to get free much. The obstacle remains the midfield which failed to give service and Emerson had a stinker.

That sums it up really. Only Zambrotta tried to create some chances with his flank runs. However, Nedved and Emerson were pretty much useless...and to some extent, Camoranesi too.

Once we recovered in the 2nd half though, we seemed alright and it's definitely possible to defeat Liverpool and keep a clean sheet back in Turin imo.

there are things too keep in mind.

-Luis Garcia's shots
-Baros' penetrations
-riise's free kicks
-the uselessness of the 4-4-2

I had a feeling that the postponement of the Fiorentina game would affect us negatively and it did. We were unbelieveably sluggish in the opening exchanges and simply weren't as sharp as we needed to be. The first half belonged to Liverpool and the second half to us and we were a tad unfortunate not to get more from the encounter. Del Piero had a good goal disallowed for offside and Zlatan hit the post so I do feel a bit hard done by. Blasi really struggled and I'm questioning his position in the Juventus squad now more than ever.

Buffon - Couldn't do anything about the goals, looked pretty good when called upon. 6

Zebina - IIRC it was him that Hyypia got away from to score the first goal and he didn't contribute much to the attack. Quite poor today actually. 5

Thuram - I thought he had a very solid second half but looked shaky in the first. He couldn't handle the pace Liverpool threw at him so I was relieved when Benitez replaced Baros. 6

Cannavaro - My man of the match. He was immense at the back and scored the crucial away goal, a goal that he definitely deserves for his defensive contributions. 7

Zambrotta - Top quality performance. Carried out his duties very well at both ends of the pitch. Defended admirably, got forward to good effect and assisted Canna's goal. 7

Camoranesi - Looked ordinary in the first 45 mins but was much more active after the break. I'm expecting a bit more from him in the second leg. 6

Emerson - IMO he should have made a better effort at closing down Garcia when the Spaniard scored. It wasn't entirely his fault as it was a magnificent goal but Emo was caught ball watching. He can do a lot better. 5.5

Blasi - Worst player on the pitch. Didn't do a great deal of ball winning which is supposed to be his strong point and he is extremely poor on the ball. His distributory skills need work and he needs to be more comfortable with the football at his feet. 4

Nedved - Quiet first half, good second half. A decent effort considering his condition. 6

Ibrahimovic - Didn't do a lot but it was never going to be easy for him as whenever he got the ball a minimum of two (it was three on a number of occasions) Liverpool players were immediately on him. Good effort that struck the post. 5.5

Del Piero - He was quite unfortunate to be replaced as he was more involved than Zlatan but I can't blame Capello for leaving on the stronger, taller, fitter player. A few nice touches in the first half, combined well with Nedved twice, and had a headed goal disallowed for a dubious offside decision. I would have given him more than 60 minutes, but not a bad effort. 6

Pessotto - Really good display. Gave the side a bit of width and allowed Nedved to play centrally. He should start in the second leg. 6.5

Trezeguet - Absolutely nothing. How many times did he touch the ball? The service to him may not have been wonderful but I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I say that we need more from him. Perhaps Zalayeta would have been a better option on the night. 5

Montero - no rating.

We sucked!!!! At one point in the match I thought the game could have easily gone to 5-0

Liverpool werent great, but they danced around our defence and were very fast. We just did nothing, and what a GOAL by Luis Garcia!!!

Next time play Trezegol Zlatan and Del Piero all at the same time, and then put Zalayeta

That's not acceptable at all . we need more dynamism at delle alpi otherwise we will cry more and more, we were weak against them . they did play The dream match and Thanks god that we have not recieve the third goal which can kill our hope to qualify.

Honestly we do not have the real striker who can score, not only score but to put the opponent's defenders under presssure during 90 mins . zlatan is not enough also . i was thinking of zlayeta if he played this match , definitely will bemore active

What we can say that The coach did really great job by his substitutions specially pessoto who did cover zambrotta spot when was attacking and stopping Tallec on the same time . this step from capello made Benitez pulling out baros to play

4-5-1
and kept zambrota fyling on the left side and IMO he was the best player of juve on this match .

scoring a goal by the beautiful defender cannavaro brought back the hope for us . so i wish to see not a good attack at delle alpi cuz sure we will score but i wish to see a great defenders that could not accept a goal, if they score we will be in trouple.

Well what do you think of this then eh...............during the minutes silence and the showing of the mosiac on The Kop

Get your facts right...

This was not during the silence and mosaic it was during the offering of the friendship banner...

If you were there you would also know... that it was a handful of people centre front... the rest of us clapped throughout....

And anyway... what did you expect!

If you or anyone else didnt expect a section of our crowd to react in that manner.. Then frankly... Your a fvcking fool

Just because a gesture is offered doesnt mean everyone must except... some did, some did not... It is our fans choice not yours

Next you'll be complaining about clapping during the silence... Give me a break!!!

Also if we are all so bad... How come after all the liverpool supporters had left whilst we were held back....

Your Players came out for their warm down... They came to our end and virtually everyone cheered and clapped them as they applauded us

Emerson was at fault on both goals I believe. Just watched Hyppias goal, and Emerson was the man marking him, and that was his fault.

Again, Garcia's goal was Emersons fault as well. Watched both now once more.

WORST MATCH OF the year for him. Cost us 2 goals. Poor display from him.

Let's juz say that we could have finished 0 - 4 in Anfield.

In the 1st half, we were a complete joke, not only us, but Capello too. How can a team with the toughest defence in the world concede 2 goals in juz 25 minutes! And Capello used the stupid 4-4-2 system which allowed Gerrard to COMPLETELY MAXIMISE HIS POTENTIALS!!!!! He should have used 4-3-1-2 at the start of the game!!!!!

Let us talk about the goals in which Liverpool scored

The 1st goal is a bad clearance from Zebina, which allowed Hyypia to strike in. At least he should have jumped taller. And the 2nd goal we conceded was even worse. Blasi thinks he is actually Zlatan, trying to dribble past 3 players, and losing the ball which leads to Garcia scoring a superb goal. I really don't wanna see Blasi playing for Juve again and this makes me wonder y did Moggi "sold" Maresca. Up to today I still believe that Maresca could have made the difference, but when u don't do ur research properly there is nothing u can do.

Anyway Emerson did commit a grave mistake, but well humans do make mistakes. Let's hope he can improve on this in the next game.

In the 2nd half, when Pessotto was introduced and reverted to a 4-3-1-2 system, we played with more enthusiasm, which is relieving for me. Zambrotta + Zebina making runs to attack and Nedved in the centre role behind the strikers. Zambrotta is making an impact which is greater than compared in the 1st half. And Nedved's skills were showcased in his "new" role. However this makes me wonder, y didn't the hell Capello used this system in the 1st place? WE could have scored at least 1 or 2 goals instead of the other way round. And we still need Cannavaro, a guy that is only 1.75 m tall to score a header for us when his main role is shutting down attackers.

Liverpool isn't a tough team to beat, and they r missing some regulars, so this leaves us no reason to lose. We dominated, but with no1 to convert the finishes. And I don't believe that Carson did a good job, he was juz PLAIN lucky dat Zlatan never scored, the penalty was not given for the foul on DP and Nedved's free kick was fired straight at him.

BTW the referee is 1 of the lousiest referees I have ever seen tonight. Does he know wad is the passive offside rule? IMO he is juz interested in earning the $$$ and getting his ass out of this game. No cards shown. Wad a joke, that tackle on Garcia by Zambro is a good enough reason.

Oh yea, we would have been FINISHED if our opponents were Lyon instead of Liverpool!!

Between the two of them i would give Del Piero 5,5 and Zlatan a 6,5.

Del Piero tried 3-4 times to dribble past defenders and didnt even get a pass thru once and always losing the ball.

Zlatan despite sometimes having 2 defenders on him got thru 5-6 times.

Zlatan hit the post after a good solo effort

Del piero got a perfect pass leaving him free with the keeper and missed.

And i dont know what game you were watching but Del-Pieros header was clearly offside.

Del piero was slow and passive, Zlatan had a couple of good runs and was creating or involved in chance after chance(in the second half mostly).

Today Juve played bad but Zlatan was one of the better players in Juve.

Zambrotta being the best and the cannavaro and third comes zlatan.

Nedved and Trezeguet didnt have a good match(undurstandably).
