If Trezeguet is fit for this match, I might start him in front of Ibrahimovic because we need a natural finisher on the pitch. If Trezeguet or Zalayeta are not doing much in the first half I would pull one of them off and put Zlatan in. This is what I am looking for:

Buffon

Zebina - Thuram - Cannavaro

Camoranesi - Emerson - Tacchinardi - Zambrotta

Zalayeta - Trezeguet - Del Piero
Great, although it's kinda risky...

Formation not too dissimilar from mine but I wouldn't play Zebina or Tacchinardi cos Zebina is an average centre half playing at right back, offeres nothing going forward and commits too many silly fouls whilst in a game we have to win by 2 clear goals, you dont need 2 holding midfielders and we seem to be buggered that Nedved might not play so maybe play Camoranesi with Emerson in the middle and play Zambrotta as right winger with Birindelli or Pesotto as right back or bring in Kapo on the right hand side of midfield or middle and Zambrotta as right back
At the moment I would have to say that Zebina is an "upgrade" to Birindelli or Pessotto, and Zebina can give us some attacking presence on the right flank. I know he is a reliability at the back however he gives us more in attack than Pessotto.

I was thinking the same thing about the midfield because Tacchinardi does not offer much in attack, however we do not have many options and at least Alessio could give us some bite in midfield, helping trap Real in their own half for as long as possible. Moving Camoranesi into the center might be a good move to get him involved with the match a bit more, however I am not sure if Kapo is ready to play for us on the flank. Hopefully Capello will decide to take some chances in this match because we need to.

3-4-3: the reason we 3attackers and 2wingers is to create smth,
the rest of the team may defend,
the choice depends on quality and experience we cant risk kapo, appiah or olivera as starters cause we sould secure possesion

buffon

Zebina - Thuram - Cannavaro

Camoranesi - Emerson - Tacchinardi - Zambrotta

Zalayeta - Trezeguet - Del Piero

is the best possible!
subs:
- birindeli for zebina if he looks unstabble or if he gets him shelf booked
-zlatan for the attacker who helped less
-olivera for tacchinardi if we are winning2-1 and need to press for 3-1

With a target man plus Del Piero I'm sure he won't have to. He's got some nice passing skills and if he's awarded such a position I'm sure he'll do great.
Capello is going to have to make a choice. Despite being very good physically Zlatan is better when he has more freedom. He has more to offer when he plays slightly off someone than when he takes up the point striker role which he played against Siena. Zalayeta also looks better when he's a bit wider or deeper so we either play Trezeguet in the middle with Zlatan or Zala and DP supporting or we play Zlatan right upfront where he isn't as effective. Zalayeta's power and direct style of play could come in useful so I would start him, but do we go with the team's natural goalscorer and best finisher in Trezeguet or Ibrahimovic? Of course this all depends on Treze's fitness and form, but I think we should play the team Andy and Cronios posted. Zambrotta can cover the entire left flank making it a 3-4-3 when we're attacking and a 4-3-3 when we're defending.

Real madrid is a very far cry from Siena and its all well and good scoring back heel flicks and 1million goals against Siena(Dp take note) but this is against a team in which the Cl is now possibly their only saving grace this season. To say Zambrotta alone will patrol the left flank like Beckham, Figo and Bravo will have no say in that matter is foolhardy. Someone definitely has to help Zambrotta and on the other side, Carlos and Zidane will always have a field day against Camo and Zebina if he is picked.

I cannot understand how anyone can say Zebina is offensive,( I meant in tghe football sense) as he cannot cross the ball to save his life and he is not that great going forward.

I am not too happy that we didnt score in Madrid as that makes matters way too complicated for a side as limited as ours when it comes to scoring goals when it matters and not conceding.

If we are gonna go out though, lets go out with all guns blazing not like the damp squid display we did against Depor last season

Zambrotta will be our main attacker on the left, but it's also Nedved and Del Piero's preferred flank so he should have plenty of support available.DP and Zambrotta have some chemistry and their 1-2s could cause some trouble for the Real defence.Zlatan will hopefully draw two markers in the centre, leaving some space for Camoranesi to cut into the centre.

Zidane Will Be Fit To Face Juve
    3/1/2005 1:44:00 PM
Real Madrid fantasy midfielder Zinedine Zidane will be able to face his former club Juventus in the Delle Alpi stadium next week.
The good news arrived after scans on the French superstar revealed he didn’t suffer a strain in his left thigh.

In order for Zidane to be in his best shape for the second leg Champions League clash, Real will allow him to sit out their next two Liga matches against Betis and Valencia respectively.

If we play like this it would finish Juve 1-3 Madrid, and if Real get lucky they might finish it 1-4 with 2 own goals by Zebina...
