Newsflash Gobbi's: Despite your disappointment (I could understand) Juve did lose the first game and for some reason acted in a very arrogant fashion almost laughing at liverpool for winning the first game. Secondly, this team was not spectacular ... never REALLY was all season long. They have been DRUDGING by in Serie A thanks to lucky calls, terrible officiating and horrible keepers. The lost the first Real game and in the second game did not show a superiority but just having more of a heart. They never demonstrated a superiority football-wise and a team with an organized game with talented players and depth.
Its not that drastic an event that they did not make the semi's..the writing was on the wall (VINMAN IS SPOT ON). They had a much better squad in 2003.

You and your passion again. Forget your prejudices and watch the game. When he had the ball he did good. People show "passion" in different ways. He does his talking on the pitch.
He does his talking on the pitch? When? In the warm up? I didn't see any 'talking' from DP tonight. He spent the entire first half trying to get ridiculous free kicks by diving on the floor.

I'M NOT BLAMING DP ALONE, everyone was pretty bad (apart from Canna and Zambro) but he offered nothing - why we persist with him I do not know.

I'm trying to not keep moaning about him but he frustrates me sooo much. Some 'legend' he is.

Fabio Capello insists the Bianconeri gave everything they had to reach the Champions’ League semi-finals, but were outplayed by Liverpool.

“We must admit that Liverpool defended solidly and were unstoppable in the air. They deserved to qualify,” conceded the Coach after two poor displays sealed their exit.

Juventus needed to win 1-0 at the Delle Alpi after losing the first leg 2-1, but played with a low tempo and rarely tested goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, only hitting the woodwork with Fabio Cannavaro’s late header.

“We gave everything we had and performed well enough, hoping to snatch a goal from somewhere, but unfortunately we were unable to score. Liverpool are a tough team to face.”

Nobody knows that more than Capello, who was already eliminated twice by the Anfield outfit during his time at Roma. He had urged patience, a tactic that worked against Real Madrid in the last round, but the clock ticked away all too quickly.

“I don’t feel it right to blame the lads, as it was a very balanced game and our opponents kept us on our toes with the threat of the counter-attack. That’s why they’ve done very well away from home this season.”

The Italian Press has already turned on Capello’s side after a sluggish performance against an opponent they were expected to eliminate comfortably.

Ditto. I'm with a bunch of 'pool fans at college tomorrow. :frown:
I feel I your pain mate. My defence will be if Liverpool were a great team, they would've won both matches. I don't pretend that Juve a great team, good (sometimes) but not great.

While all that is true, I think you'll find its not really news to most of us.

Can everyone in this thread just stop and take a breather? Let our collective heads clear...

IMO the problem's that we have an aging squad. Kinda like Madrid. See, over the 2 legs, Liverpool showed that they are faster than us. We need wholesale changes during the off season. Or do I say additions?

I could understand the disappointment (I have been through worse: think Deportivo). However, Juve never acknowledged the fact that LIVERPOOL was up after the first game...they never had the DO OR DIE spirit that teams should have when they face elimination. They didn't WORRY ENOUGH and spent too much time being confident....home field advantage, Delle Alpi, we are Juve, We beat REAL.....
It means nothing: at the end of the day THIS GAME MATTERED MOST.

Same here. I hope they'll go easy on me. Its the bloody media, always building us up as having great players. "Look at the names, Delpiero, Thuram.." you get it everytime. What about Blasi? Camoranesi? Olivera? Do they not know these are merely average players - who by rights should be nowhere near Juventus FC?
