Marchisio said we have the 2nd best defense in Europe?

I'm 100% sure it was Zach and it was more than one post.
Sadly, I must confess my sin here also.

I was positive after the failure of last season, that was such a ridiculous underachievement we wouldn't be staring the same exact thing in the face. I had guessed Conte would learn from his mistakes and push the players to work harder, to focus more on CL, and so on. Well, I was wrong, and somehow at this point, even with Conte I think we'd be staring down the barrel of a loaded gun tomorrow. My stupidity. I can certainly admit though, that I was wrong. Even if we do end up qualifying out of our group, I was wrong.

At this point, beyond coaching, tactics and mentality, I'm starting to doubt just how good our players actually are... Sad times.

Statistically. Funnily enough I checked earlier because I was looking at Southampton's record. Bayern first (supplies) with 3, us and Barcelona on 4. Southampton 5, in case you wondered.
Ironic considering how much slack our defense gets here:D

True but our record isn't just down to individuals, it's the way our team approaches games (possession) and how many teams approach us (scared, odd counter attack).

As it stands our current back three (and Caceres when fit, although less so this season) all have individual errors in them, but I still maintain that this is a by-product of the 3-5-2, especially in the case of Chiellini and Bonucci (or whoever plays as the defensive ball-player).

How dare you? Our players are great. Chiellini is fantastic playmaker (more than 90% completed passes), Ogbonna really excelled as RWF, while Llorente's movement inside the box is of superb quality, fox in the box. Add Marchisio, the most useful player in the world at his position, Licht's and Asamoah's impeccable dribbling skills and we're destined for glory.

    :agree:

I think in general with a back 4 our ball movement is more fluid (some might call it tactial flow) but in a 352 our play seems rather neutral most of the time with hints of negative by passing back so often.

Ok so Ogbonna, Asamoah, Evra, Caseres, Barzagli and Marrone are out. that means we have 3 defenders left in our whole team, and we are still playing with a back 5 ? what if we need to make a sub ?

I think the best option would be playing Vidal as a CB.

    Licht - Vidal - Bonucci - Chiellio

    Marchisio - Pirlo - Pogba

    Pereyra - Morata - Tevez

That there it's a Vidal red card staring at your face.

We have so many injured defenders that it's hard to keep track of their return dates. I know Barzagli is out until 2015, and Marrone for 3 weeks. How about the others?

Pirlo is not his usual self these days. playing him will be a suicide.
