Selling Bonucci hardly weakened the squad in retrospect. I don't think we had a bad mercato. We bought two very good wingers and Matuidi. Shame he was injured for today, and that really is a big problem. We always get stupid injuries right before important CL games. 2 years ago against Bayern we didn't have Chiellini on both legs and Dybala for the 2nd leg.

The irony is that defending is not even energy preserving. It takes more energy to defend than attack, because when you defend you are constantly chasing the ball, while the attacking team lets the ball do the work.

The injuries is just another annoying factor to the whole thing. But we cant blame this on injuries, that would be hypocritical to say the least.

We had plenty of chances to win this game: Berna could have scored, Mandzukic should have scored, and Higuain missed a penalty. We had our chances and blew it. Not deadly enough when it mattered.

Tottenham would off course dominate the midfield battle, not much else to expect, when a semi-retired Khedira is chasing them and pjanic has an off day. Predictable.
