I love starting off my mornings reading humor
Boateng is one of the best when it comes to speed and long passes. He lacks the strenght in the air a little, but else he is a top player without any doubt.
To acknowledge how good Pique and Boateng are you first need to understand how those teams are playing.
No disrespect to Juve, but it'd rate a defenders job in a system like Barca's or Bayern's harder than in a system like Juve. Whereas it is easier to shine for attacking players in Bayern's working system (just look at Coman), it's easier to shine for defenders in your working defensive system. I take Juve's defense as probably the best in the world.
An example I could give you is Benatia, who was one of the best in Italy. He was quite often caught off guard in our high-line, while Boateng is nearly flawless.
Just some reasons why I'd pick those over Barzagli. I'd also pick Bonucci because of his great ability on the ball. But I get it that Juve fans have a different view on defending, of course.

Not really. When you take out two or three pieces of the puzzle from a team, you don't have the same team anymore...as you know better, Boateng not playing, effects your pressing game directly, and don't forget we are not some second rate team, you either press properly and perfectly or one mistake means morata or Dybala is 1 on 1 with neuer..therefore yes I believe Madrid was more intense plus had more technical ability individually...
Hi. Bayern fan here too. I frankly haven't watched enough Juve matches to know which is he best (I know as a whole you have a magnificent defense), but when we praise Boateng's technicality we're usually talking about his ball playing skills (and particularly his long-passing accuracy). IMO, Boateng's long balls are pretty much on par with Xabi Alonso's, which is to say at the very top. Take the 5-1 Dortmund game this season as an example, the kind of passes Boa did for the Müller and Lewy goals were perfect and are not uncommon.
Anyway, respect to Juve, your team is great and I know we will have very close and disputed matches. Hope we come on top but wouldn't say it's guaranteed. And, frankly, if you eliminate us, I hope you end up winning the whole thing (much better than another Barça treble or a Madrid undécima).

what? there are only a hand full of (top) games per season when we play a defensive system.

I agree with you that the tactics play a big part on defenders as others fit to more attacking teams with their passing ability and others to more defensive teams with good positioning and concentration.
I'd say that if we pick the ten best central defenders it only comes down to preference when comparing them to each other.

On subject. It's really hard to compare players from different teams, esp. defenders, because best defenses built up the way that weakness of one defender should be covered by his partner. But if I'd need to choose any defender and put him in any system it's gonna be either Silva or Kompany (not this season version though, injures are getting him).

Boateng is a better defending version of David Luiz.
Ie: not really a good defender but "ball-playing" skills. One long ball forward and you forget he often looks out of position. I mean, he has to make so many tackles because he's so often caught out of position and has to scramble back to make the tackle.

Maybe not top 3 because it is hard to decide. I'd say top 5 would be Boateng, Godin, Bonucci, Pique and Silva.

I know how much of a beast Barzagli was in his prime and I still rate him, but Boateng is probably the most athletic and technically gifted CB in the world at the moment. Not even mentioning he's the best tackler in the league with ~75% tackles.

Boateng might be better physically , but Barazgli is smart defender, best in the world without a dobut , he is criminaly underrated .
It's funny because all my friends non-juve fans thinks our best defenders are Chiellini,Bonucci .
