If you barely give away anything, but your defence gifts goals in the form of blunders, whilst your attack creates loads of chances but doesnt finish them, then the formation is excellent, but the players performance or mentality or a combination of both was wrong.

Blaming the formation is incredibly shortsighted and not very intelligent.

What's the point to play with 3 CB when you can play a striker isnstead. Coman > Bonucci. It's simple as that!

I would like to see this :

Buffon
Lichsteiner-Barzagli-Chiellini-Evra
Pogba-Marchisio-Asamoah
Morata-Llorente-Tevez

@Red please. I'm on 8 points and i cant repond to this guy without running the risk of getting banned on points
Don't worry: so long as Juve's players want to be good defenders, they will be.

It's just a state of mind.

Ignoring the merits of how strong or otherwise that team is, as a general principle, I'd be concerned about putting in three players (Barzagli, Chiellini, Morata) who are just coming back from injury and may well not be up to playing 90 minutes at this point.

I'd rather ease them back in at slightly different stages to avoid situation where they are all knackered after 60-70mins and you have to make a choice about who to sub and who to leave on even though they are struggling.

All i can say here is, that people still whining about our draws against FCK & FCN, shouldn't want us to "just gamble" (as someone wrote) by using a new formation for the 'first time' in a competitive game when playing CL when we must win against an inferior opponent at home. 3-5-2 is the safe solution, and look at our score against lesser opponents at home for the last two years. Have we even lost at home, apart from that distastrous Sampdoria-game where Icardi banged i two on the counter? Besides, the 3-5-2 gives us an extra attacker when attacking (and that is when we need it right?) compared to a 4-3-3, because our wing backs will push up and act as wingers, and because of our 3-man defense, we will still be able to field both a 3-man midfield AND two strikers. Honestly it doesn't get much more offensive, we often crowd the opposing box in games like these.

The 3-5-2 should do more than well, the guys know it and we usually create a decent amount of chances and set pieces around the box with it - should be more than enough to win it. And with the form Caceres has hit, a Chiellini - Bonucci - Caceres defense should be able to stop all counter attacks. Don't get me wrong, im excited to see us be able to play 4-3-3 (or 4-3-1-2 or whatever) aswell, but this is not the time to gamble. We need to win this, better go for the proven game plan

Last year we got 102 points in Serie A and still failed to pass group stages in CL. This formation will fail in CL.
Lets not use this formation excuse again please. The players we have at our disposal, regardless of what formation/shape/tactics we use, should be MORE than enough to comfortably defeat this sort of opposition.

Gonna be at the stadium and hoping for something like against Nordsjaelland. Somehow have a feeling this will end with a max 2 goal win..

EuroMax got this. I don't think we'll go in with the same cautious, scared, pussyass weakling mentality we had in the CL with Captain Schettino in charge. I really don't want to hear bullshit "we are underdogs, we are too weak for europe, we need more $$$" BS before and after every fucking CL game this season.
