Seven, if you're going to resort to these kind of tactics, then I'm seriously no longer interested in further discussion.

At this point I'm sure you don't believe what you're writing, and are just trying to wind me up.

In the Qatar thread, even though I don't agree with you for the most part, at least you actually do make it a serious discussion. Now you're just trolling.
So which team do you like in Italy?

jealousy? what a blasphemy! ban him!

jealousy is what merda feel

us? fans from before 06... it's pure very dark bitterness... even some here dare to point at fifa's corruption, yet what happened to us was far more than that, also some here dare to say purgatory, another blasphemy, purgatory mean you're guilty, juve wasn't guilty as what was accused, it's pure grave injustice, a heinous crime against sportsmanship.
I feel the same way, today I talked to one of the coaching staff of the Dutch Women's team over a cigarette, we talked football, and I told him I want a dirty, grimy win that would make the world cringe. That would be the best possible outcome for me, I want them all to feel robbed.

I told him I want a gol di muntari, and a red card on neymar for diving (but he got a nasty elbow in reality from chiellini), the guy laughed and he told me that I'm security?
I told him I was dead serious, I don't want a clean win. I want a dirty win that would make Moggi proud, he laughed super hard there.

Also got a bet going on with one of the Team Canada staff girls, if Juve wins she's gotta buy me the goalscorer's shirt, and if Barca win I get her a shirt. God I hope, it's a Maradonna-esque hand of god goal then she buys me said players shirt, or an assist Henry-Ireland style.

You and I both know you just like shiny things.
At least you're amusing unlike Jack :D

So this is me according to you:

I'm rich, I have slaves, I can buy anything I want, I'm a fanboy, and now I like shiny things.

Guess what, I'm also the reason for global warming.

No. You're not responsible for global warming.

I do think you're a highly priviliged person in a society that knows both extreme wealth and extreme poverty. You are willing to close your eyes on the most gruesome of human rights violations as long as it suits your agenda and you are the perfect "consumer" for many global companies.

It reflects a lot on your choices as a football fan. You pick a big EPL team, sponsored by Emirates Airline. Whenever the press feeds you which team/coach/player to like, you go along with it. Ronaldo or Messi? Well, the press says Messi, so you go with Messi. Barcelona or Juventus? Well, the press says Barcelona play attractive football, so you go with Barcelona. Atletico or Real? Well, the press says it's nice to have such a sympathetic outsider. OMG, you're a diehard Atletico fan and you just loooooove the fan atmosphere!

This crap annoys me to no end.

I support Arsenal well before Emirates Airlines.

I think you're much more of a conformist than me, almost all your opinions are typical of a white, middle class, Belgian who comes from a family where both his parents are educated, it puts pressure on you to try and sound sophisticated sometimes, but you crave attention, so from time to time you try and be controversial(though most of the time you end up looking stupid when you do that). You're obviously well educated, but you cannot control your emotional impulses and biases, which makes you go on rants where you spew a lot of ignorance.

You watch tv series like House, and you think it's cool if you try and emulate that character, and think it's cool to look like someone whose controversial and doesn't give a shit, even though we're in an internet forum.

The last part especially annoys me too much. You're not House Seven FFS, he's a tv character.

Oouf, that's a hit below the belt, and I don't agree with you here.

People close their eyes to the most gruesome violations of human rights all the time in the West. Our opinions are molded by the press, and our views of certain states are determined due to the interest of our respective countries agendas. We have no problem letting people die off, heck it got to a certain extent where intervention is only done, when and if there is a profit to be made.

Example, Somalia. For 17+ years they've let the country to eat itself up, and die of starvation. Stability has come, and now Americans/Brits want to do business in order to put old oil contracts into action, if Somalia don't comply, watch another 20+ year war happen, and no one will move a muscle. They'll say terrorist and pirates are ravaging the country  but where the weapons come from?

I'm a lawyer. That is nothing like House. As far as being somewhat of a conformist. Yes, yes I am. We all are. But I'm not the pure consumer you are.

This is a completely false analogy. Yes. Yes there are human rights violations in Somalia. In the Congo too. Hell, there are people being tortured in obscure places in the States as well. That is NOTHING like seeing people in debt slavery all around you.

Seven is a suburban European who sub consciously looks down on the third world. He typically believes that all us third world citizens condone everything that happens in the region. Because he cannot control his biases, selective perception kicks in, and he just doesn't see posts in which we don't conform to his standards of how a third world person thinks, acts. That explains why he thinks I'm rich and privileged when he knows absolutely nothing about me. For him, it's enough that I live in the gulf for him to imagine me in a huge villa, driving a fancy car and wearing expensive jewelery.

Unfortunately with all his education, he's never learned to be aware of his biases or be a critical thinker.

To varying degrees, but you follow stereotypes all too easily; all you see is black and white.

I realized that you probably weren't lying in the post where you claimed that I said I support Barca, because the definition of lying is when you knowingly say something that you know is false. In this case, I think maybe your not lying, but you're the type that has an extreme case of selective perception, so you probably actually believed it to be true when you posted it. Exactly like when you are now claiming that I condone the labor practices in Qatar, you're probably not purposely lying, but again it's that selective perception.

What if I tell you, that you know that your country, Belgium wants these things to remain in Congo, and Congo to never flourish and develop in order to pillage it. Thus for, you don't care about the Congolese struggle, actually you profit from it, directly along with the rest of your Belgium society. You guys still eating off that King Leopold II money

Nobody in Europe wants Congo to fix itself, no one in Europe wants Rwanda to heal. It's bad for business. We all protect our interest.

What does he know about any of that?

To him, these are things he sees in the news, he goes on a guilt trip for 5 minutes, maybe he'll talk about some current international issues on brunch with his co workers, and then it all goes away, and he's back to watching his favorite character House, and trying to emulate him on Tuz.

I do not really dispute that. I am sure there are Belgian holdings that still have interests in Congo and that is quite possible that is better for them if the dispute continues. I have little to no say over those holdings though.

That is quite different from having slaves in Antwerp.

I never go on guilt trips.

Qatar is the third world now?

Also, I lived in Africa once, but I'm guessing you didn't know that.
