I still rmb the last game we played athletico, there was three minutes of extra time. But two minutes of it was spent with athletico players rolling and groaning on the field.

I think that is one of their strength. Definitely one of their key tactics.

Yeah. They try to play the classic argentina way, of slowing down the play entirely, and then suddenly accelerate.

Thing is, classic argentina used to do that when in possession, and Athletico does that by acting like pathetic filthy cunts

Yes. Tbh I thought we gave them too much respect the last time round.
We need our strikers to roughen their defenders more. Only tevez is doing it. Llorente is like a girl stuck in a body of a Greek god.

I know Simeone well, they'll park the bus in a way it'd be almost impossible for us to find a gap. We better come up with creative ways to perforate and get past that wall of a defense or we're screwed.

Pretty much that. But i still hope we can put one goal past them then things become more interesting.

The key is to not waste the chances that will eventually come. Try to score early in the game and dictate the rest of it.

No offence, but if Barcelona and Real Madrid fail to break them with creative football, then i dont think its the solution. They are just terribly good at cutting the pace out of the game, but not in the glorious classic argentina ways.

We should pressure them, win the duels in the midfield, and finish the few chances we'd get. All this with conservatine runlines and limited forward runs and plays by deeper players.

Try to make up your own statistics

Like for examples : aireal duels won, grond duels won, succesfull slidings, intercepted high and low passes.

i know i will, cause its gonna be a grind versus grind

Pirlo would be very important for a free kick possibility, but we need better protection at the mid. I'd go with Marchisio as a DM.

Also, Vidal is a much better box-to-box CM than Marchisio. So Marchisio DM, Vidal CM.

Also, Pereyra is a much better AM than Vidal. So Marchisio DM, Vidal CM, Pogba, Pereyra.

Also, we can't afford another bad LLorente game. Please please let Morata play.

And Evra has been disgusingly bad. Quick and strong Atletico players will kill him. Give Padoin a shot.

Buffon, Litch, Bonucci, Chiello, Padoin; Marchisio, Pogba, Vidal, Pereyra; Tevez, Morata.

That's the best we've got right now IMO.

Pereyra would be pissing his pants in this kind of matches and the guy has no dribbling and initiative, would be a joke containing him as an AM for Atleti defense. Imo someone here is massively overrating him, especially cause he's not got the character to be a starter here... Not yet, at least. Not saying he's not good, it's a guy I'd put in the middle of the pitch for the last 30 mins or not very important matches, he can do his job, but come on.

Or not, don't forget we're on the assumption territory here. Just because RM and Barça who both have very creative mids couldn't do it, we might find the right pass at the right time. The "Luck" factor here will be very important.

But i agree we should keep pressuring them until they cave.
