here is a link to their '12/13 financial report. please point out how they failed financially.
http://www.realmadrid.com/socios/carnet-de-socio/informes-anuales

their sponsorship and commercial activities, ticket revenues are all correlated with their star players. they get nearly €40m from friendlies alone because of star appeal, I doubt Juve get €4m from friendlies. owner's equity increased from around €30 million when the Galactico project started to over €300m now. They make profits every year, very few clubs even manage to break-even.
He's talking about their 'Galacticos' days.

Di stefano and puskas won 5 in. A row I guess
Yeah, but CL back then had something like 7-8 participants and most teams forfeited because they couldn't afford traveling expenses. I'd say CL from the 60es onward is more representative.

So does this mean Ancelotti will get the sack Del Bosque style?

Because it took them so long to win it, the CL became the main objective. This is why they've been hiring the likes of Mourinho and Ancelotti, proven CL coaches to help them break the lack of success. When Del Bosque was manager, they were expected to win the CL. Things have changed now

Thats actually horrible, because every league title is an achievement on his own. Winning it 3 times in a row is a massive achievement. Going out 2 rounds early is unfortunate, and sure, plenty of excuses to why.

If we pick it up and proceed next year, making QF or semi's, then no one will remember we crashed out in the group the year before, but our 102 point league record will be reminded for a very very long time
It will be hard to match our achievements in the league this season. The season that we had may actually never be replicated, let alone surpassed in our lifetime. Hence, by not giving two shits regarding winning a Serie A title next season, I'm not undermining its importance, but simply highlighting the magnitude of our accomplishment this season.

So what? It doesn't matter, I agree that we should count CL before and after 1992 but since uefa is count it all together it doesn't matter when and how you won it

We finished 2'nd in the two seasons he was here. That hardly qualifies as terrible.

The man is a proven winner. He has won 3 CL titles as a coach, and 2 as a player. No coach currently in circulation has managed that feat, not even that smug $#@! some of you cream your pants over, and who is currently managing London Blue.
I was talking about the CL

He had a team with the likes of Zidane in it, and finished bottom of his group. In a way his success in the CL gives me hope that perhaps Conte will turn things around

Madrid are the most profitable among top clubs in Europe. There's no way you can say they failed financially. They have been king in this aspect ever since the late 90s.
I'd say, that real started their economic success back then. They made a huge dept to have the team that beat juve. They made more to get the galacticos, but then the merchandising started rolling, the income went trough the roof, and bit by bit, they became what they are today.

By far the strongest financial team in europe, whilst completely in check with FFP. Impressive tbh.

Its still madrid :D

It is yes, but a fuckup is always possible.
And this season we started with two strikers without playing time the year before, that didn't know eachother and the team very well.
We also had some bad luck and above that, we also didn't play our best so then this can happen.
Let's just hope they have learned something for next year.

Celtic's record don't count. :)
Yeah, thats what i tought when i saw it :d

And Zidane with his headbutting practically eliminated us in the crucial game.

He was terrible in the CL here. I've never looked at it that way though. I sure hope Conte can pull an Ancelotti out of his A$$ in the next couple years!

When i look at Milan's CL record its reminds me why i hate them so much.
Arseholes won their last two CL's in the seasons where they were barely challenging for the league.
Man i hope they dont win another CL for like, ever.

It's easier when you're involved in fraud and a bank just hands out an open blanco check, because you're the king's club.
