Did you notice when messi fell, he ran straight into the player ?

Younger, much more agile at speed Messi, would have banked hard to the left, and stift it over the keepers feet into the right corner.

He's loosing his agility at speed. Ronaldo has not visually decayed physically
You can see it when he's running all the time imo. He looks slower, weaker and less mobile. Ronaldo doesn't look very different at all. If I had to pick a player to bank on between this and five years, I'd always go with Ronaldo.

Which, incidentally, also means I consider Ronaldo the more complete player.

Bayern would have the midfield and isolate their forwards, they'd make the game. Bayern is the only team who can go against barcelona, and win possession
Luis Enrique isn't dependant on possession, he is more flexible then that (just see this game, they won because of basic crosses from wing approach), has made them alot more direct counter team. Embarrassed Bayern last time with countering Bayerns high defensive line, Alaba and Kimmich vs this insane trio is disaster waiting to happen to

If this is Messi's declining, which I disagree with, then he's declining pretty fucking good.
He is. But it's still declining. I guess it's muscle injuries taking a toll. Or his kidneys. Ronaldo looks healthy. Messi looks like a weird ass leprechaun on growth hormone. He reminds me of beefed up cows really.

Pep also showed he's a really mediocre coach that game.

I have no idea as I rarely see him play, but it says a lot that he's getting criticized after such a performance.

Meh.
He's still the world's best together with Ronaldo. But I find Ronaldo far more impressive lately. Ronaldo looks indestructible, Messi looks a bit frail and slow compared to his former self.

Yes, that's the premier game I understood the critique he gets, which usually tend to be overblown but showed major tactical naivete and overcomplicated tinkering that was baffling.
It was his arrogance. Pep is an okay coach who was made great by Messi. If you're a brilliant coach, you acknowledge that in the end it's the players who decide games.

Bayern will have the possession, but then it gets tricky.

When you play bayern, you need to keep their defence deep by having a strong and fast forward stretching them, and worldclass midfielders who win duels and can recover possession.
Otherwise, they will move their defence very high, and you'll get shafted by that movement in the box.

Bayern is excellent at isolating your frontline. They also have vidal hunting down midfield runners when you do actually counter.

Barcelona does not have the players to combat their midfield. Bayern, when everyone is fit, does have the defenders+Vidal to play very high and isolate their forwards.

If barcelona sits back, they wont be able to stop bayern, and they wont make most of the counters.

They are the one team that can take possession of barcelona, while isolating their forwards. And good luck for Messi to drop deeper and face vidal if he's sober.

:agree: Ronaldo is built like Superman, whilst Messi looks like some coach potato meeting with his friends to play football on weekends. it doesn't affect him now, but it definitely will in a few seasons.
