Juve lost against Bayern last time because of having mediocre forwards and a coach who refused to vary his style of play.

Oh, and that Bayern were one of the strongest, most balanced teams I've ever seen.

Juve are significantly stronger than they were and Bayern are weaker.

Bayern will go in as favourites, but I think Juve have a very good chance to get through.

yes, but also Pogba came on and played LWB for ~20 minutes in that game :touched:

then Asamoah (who was terrible that 2nd half of the season after the African Cup) and Padoin started the return leg as our wingbacks. Giacch and Isla were also subbed in later. now we have trouble to decide between Evra, Sandro, Cuadrado and Licht.

Gio was also a starter that season and he also didnt start. both came in (not 100% fit though) after we were down 2-0 already in the 2nd half and Vucinic instantly created a great chance which Vidal missed and later Gio dribbled past Van Buyten but screwed up somehow (forgot how)...

that game was really annoying though. Bayern outplayed us like no one before but only scored after a deflected shot in the opening seconds and with an offside goal. we also were the better team up until Kroos got injured around 15th minute when they put in Robben. he and Ribery were always teaming up on that right side to go against Peluso and created so much chances that way. could have ended 2-1 if Vidal scored from that late chance but could also be 3/4-0 if Gigi didnt have some great saves and Bayern missing some great chances
Key was not that. More Müller for Kroos on the 10 - and Robben for Müller on the right. Müller on Pirlo instead of Kroos was a big factor, too. Pirlo had his worst stats in years in that match nearly getting no ball to the recipient - and Müller occupied him defensively very well, too. (Makes you think what would have happened in the Euros if Löw would not have had the idea about Kroos manmarking Pirlo and leaving Müller on the bench).

I guess the match has to be played to say how it will form out. Bayern has different matches - sometimes they really smash opponents no matter who it is - sometimes it can be a really tough affair. I would not be surprised if Pep would do what he always does - play with a 4-3-3 in the away match - in a formation the offense does not function. That means a return match again in which Bayern has to perform big to get through.

IF we get a two goal lead at home, I'd prefer us going full lockdown 3-5-2 from minute 1 and then watch Bayern cry :touched: We need to get to last season's defensive consistency first though.

Juventus will attack Bayern’
By Football Italia staff

Coach Max Allegri insists Juventus won’t park the bus against Bayern Munich - “it’ll be a beautiful game”.

The Bianconeri will face the German giants in the Last 16 of the Champions League, but won’t be trying to defend their way to the Quarter-Finals.

“Will Pep Guardiola leaving change anything?” Allegri considered, speaking to Corriere della Sera.

“No, in fact the year he announced his arrival and [Jupp] Heynckes announced his departure they lifted the trophy.

“Will we park the bus? No, it will be beautiful game. We have to prepare well to go to the Quarter-Finals, and come out stronger to face the sprint in the League.

“The European showcase is important. After the final in Berlin [last season], the international popularity of Juve changed.

“The League counts, and you have to win it, but the Champions League is seen all over the world and we always have to get to at least the Last 16.”

Allegri was then asked whether he’d still be on the bench at the age of 65

“No. I hope my daughter will give me grandchildren, and if the Lord gives me the opportunity to feel good then I want to enjoy my life.

“You have to go out as a winner.

“Life is to be lived - within the rules, and without hurting anyone - if you live passively and with sadness every day then what’s the point?”

The former Milan Coach then discussed his sabbatical after being sacked by the Rossoneri, as well as various other aspects of his life.

“What did I do in my sabbatical? I went to London to see games. Why? Because there are 12 teams, and above all to speak English.

“How am I doing? I have to be freer in conversation, but I’m making strides.

“A colleague I’d invite to dinner? Guardiola, he’s caused me the most difficulty. He’s unique in changing the team on the pitch during the game.

“And a historical figure? Since he always preached calm and patience, [Mahatma] Gandhi.

“What will I give my four-year-old son for Christmas? I wish I could give him the values that I received. In today’s world we’re at risk of losing them.

“Young lads are very weak psychologically, because while technology is very useful it has decreased human interaction.”
