Garcia: 'Impossible to do better'
By Football Italia staff

Rudi Garcia insists “it was impossible” for Roma to do better than their 6-1 defeat to Barcelona. “Nothing changes.”

The Giallorossi suffered another Champions League humiliation, beaten 6-1 at Camp Nou, but can still qualify with a win over BATE Borisov or even a draw if Bayer Leverkusen fail to beat Barcelona.

“What can we say? They are a stratospheric side and unbeatable. At this moment they are unplayable,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Nothing changes, as we still need to beat BATE Borisov if we want to reach the Round of 16. That’s all there is to it.

“Barcelona scored some great goals, just look at the third from Luis Suarez, they are full of champions and nobody can stop them at the moment.

“I am not remotely worried. Obviously nobody likes to lose, but this is nothing like the defeat we had to Bayern Munich. We arrived with a lot of humility and could’ve taken the lead, but undeniably Barcelona are the stronger side.

“We could’ve scored earlier and been a bit more closed up. I tried everything, we pressed them right away, but even with everyone back we conceded two goals.

“If Edin had scored early on, I still trust we would’ve lost the game eventually. We lost the ball too quickly. After the break I changed system, trying to press and stop all the balls coming in behind the defence, but in the end nothing changed.

“I have nothing to reproach my players for, other than we should’ve used the ball better in the first half and could’ve scored, but winning here was impossible.

“The result and above all Barcelona’s performance shows even more how good our first meeting with them was and how precious the 1-1 draw proved to be.

“As I said, Barcelona are in the clouds right now and we didn’t need this show of strength to know that. We are far away from that level, but they are probably the best team in the world.

“I am disappointed, obviously, there is bitterness to have lost with this scoreline, but in the end we must only focus on beating Atalanta in Serie A and above all BATE Borisov.

“I was able to rest Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan, who were a booking away from suspension, so we’ll have them for the decisive match.

“I also got to rest Alessandro Florenzi and Miralem Pjanic in the second half.”
right. just bend over. thats the spirit.

"...it could've been worse than 6-1,” Maicon told Mediaset Premium.

Garcia's interview

What a disgraceful loser. I'm not Allegri's biggest fan but there is no way he'd spout such pathetic shit if we lost like that. Hence the reason we never will.

Roma has conceded 30 goals in 11 CL games under Garcia.

As a reference point Juve conceded 10 goals in 13 CL games last year.

I bet Sabatini didnt like his words....

Garcia-Sabatini row?

According to Mediaset Premium, who cover Champions League games in Italy, they spotted Garcia and Sabatini exchanging very heated words inside a mini-van.

They were waiting for Edin Dzeko to complete the doping test before being driven to the airport.

Roma have a terrible Champions League record under Garcia, winning only two out of 11 games.

They haven’t kept a single clean sheet in the tournament either, conceding a whopping 30 goals – an average of almost three per match.

First of all....Roma should not look at themselves like a provincial sorry team. They are one of the most famous teams of italian football.

Getting this kind of trashing against powerhouses...no matter how strong they are... is an insult to their fans and the italian league.

They and their coach are a disgrace

Roma has 3 scudetti in its history and not a single European trophy.

There are much smaller teams that play much better against giants. Roma want to be the nice guy of football, they enforce their reputation of likeable losers, they want to be applauded for not parking the bus. They want to turn of the TV and see Messi praise them for trying to play along. They want to be the second team of Arsenal fans. It's their absolute dream to present their ugly sponsorless rag and say they won't sell themselves out. The kind of team that misunderstand the idea of competition and commitment. Kansas City Royals of football

I completely agree with this. I was more saying that they have done nothing to earn a spot as one of the "most famous Italian teams" as Hydde called them.
