Bayern should be seen as inspiration. As much as I despise that club, I cannot but admire the teams they have built in the last 5-6 seasons.
exactly

the fact is they too went through a "dark age" when they couldn't even finish the cl spots in the German League. But they kept belief and kept to their project, held on to their best players and built around them. We? We conceeded defeat just after we reached the final and gave away 2 of our best players so cheaply. Bayern are no Real or Barcelona, they are no were near as rich, they did it through hardwork.

Roma are the team that is probably the best in Italy (despite their form)... and they get a beat down by Bate...
Roma are not, and have never been, the best at anything besides choking and failing. This result is totally expected.

Anyway, I'm not laughing at anyone (given our very poor start to the season) but I'm enjoying all these results so far.

The difference is that Germany has one of the best football generations ever right now and it's easy for Bayern to keep them. Meanwhile Italy has probably the worst team since the 60s and Juventus can't base their squad on Italians anymore. And of course, non-Italians are much more propable to leave for bigger cash.

but we finished 2nd in the CL, we had our backbone, we just needed to build on our success

Bayern didn't get relegated and have 200+ million debt in the process. Their model does have to be admired but they were in a better position to do what they did than we were.
