Chelsea went through on away goals just last year. I didn't hear Wenger complaining about an English side progressing because of away goals.

What a loser Wenger is.

He's been saying that before the monaco game mind you.
However, regardless of whether or not he has a point, he knew the rules beforehand, so that can'tpossibly be a valid excuse.
He has said it before. Yes. Two years ago when Arsenal also went out on away goals.

Look I'm not defending him, believe me i want him gone, or at least not the manager anymore. But he's been against the away goal rule for a long time.

"Two Premier League teams have gone out on away goals and that should be questioned"

:sergio:
That's actually a textbook example of delusion. You see, the belief "EPL is the strongest league in the world" has become an axiom, an undeniable truth in his eyes. If English teams now don't perform in the Champions League, this can never be the consequence from a lack of quality of the EPL, as that would contradict the axiom. Therefore, the blame has to lie somewhere else.

Yes he has. Because he's been knocked out by it before. :p
he's also knocked other teams out by away goals, but really if you go by that logic he can't criticise anything in the game, because inevitably he's been negatively affected by almost every rule at some stage. I'm not saying he's not a loser, because he's certainly lowered his expectations at a time when he no longer has any excuses abanymore, I'm just saying he's always been against the away goals rule. The timing of bringing it up again is obviously not the best though.

Guys come on:p

You better hope you don't get barca now :D
Yes and no.

Yes, i strongly believe we are amongst the best candidates to knock barcelona out. I believe we can continue the tradition of Italian teams performing much better against spanish opponents compared to others. That Allegri once again tactically nullyfies them, and that we can hurt them with out offence.

No, because from all the teams in the world, Barcelona got the most players who can suddenly decide a game. Especially Messi. Allegri has locked him up completely before. But he is THE player that can be shit all game, and then scores from his first shot (world cup groups for example)

Barcelona the past decade has made forcing a team into a mistake and capitalising on it an artform.

No team will tactically destroy them like we potentially can do. But no team will fuck itself in the ass with a chiellini slip up like we do

Good luck with that you fucking french small boy rapist.

The away goal rule was created to bring initiative. To stop teams from not playing in the first tie, to invite teams to grab that away goal in the first tie.

Here is the deal. Monaco did exactly that, they went for it in the away game, and got rewarded. Fucking wanker.

We'd be massive underdogs against all of Real, Barca and Bayern. Not that we couldn't beat them, but it's very unlikely.

Atletico & PSG are probably on a similar level as we are, Monaco & Porto below.

Sure we could. Those statements are still very stupid and impulsive.
Fans are allowed to be cocky and little bantering is most welcome, especially after last night. We all feel exhilarated. And he's partly right. Allegri did nullify Messi with crappy Milan side and only Niang hitting the post in the 1st half, when the score was still active for them, made it possible for Barca to overcome the deficit. They'd be favorites (not massive), would give them better odds, something like 60-40 seems fair, but they are very much beatable like any of the remaining sides. Their defense is most definitely crap and the fact that they also like to play high up the pitch, something that we're very good at exploiting could be a significant factor. Needless to say that their attacking trident (probably the best in the world) would put our defenders to an ultimate test. I'd love to see that game.

In any case for the quarters in chronological order I'd prefer:
Monaco
Porto
PSG
Atletico
Real
Barcelona
Bayern

I think this is the end for us, but I'm satiesfied we made it so far. If we get Monaco or Porto the semifinals should be the only acceptable outcome, though. I don't understand the people who want us to draw one of the favourites.

i think we'll get barca too,it will be hard to beat them but if we somehow manage to do it,it will be a massive confidence boost for us,generally i'm pretty calm about the draw cuz if we continue to perform like we did last night we won't be underdogs against any team, not even bayern o r barca!!!

no Barca yet please, not with Messi in this form. maybe in the semis, if we get there and if Pogba recovers.

don't want Bayern neither, maybe they get Atletico in the quarters and Simeone actually motivates his players to create something other than fractures and broken ankles.

the away goals rule is so out of date any ways, it was only ever introduced at an age when travelling to away matches were costly for the other team some leagues and competitions have done away with it now
Read this and don't even think of replying.
