Are people that surprised to see this result? Ofc 1-7 is beyond anyone's expectations but compare the two clubs - Bayern buy the best defender Roma has had for years and he's not even a regular in their XI.

Look at Bayers squad, depth - even without a starter like Schweinsteiger they have much better players waiting in line compared to what Roma can master. A 38 year old Totti would never reach the bench in Bayern and a player like Iturbe can only be compared to a bench player like Shaqiri. Robben, Ribery, Lewandowski, Gotze, Muller.... This team goes all the way - Roma are lucky to end second in that group. Bayern are surpassed by none and only matched by Real Madrid..

you only have to ask yourself would you rather have totti and gervinho starting upfront or lewandowski and Muller?

the irony is that the latter cost £0

I said a draw would be a good result. Generally as a second tier team in Europe as in 9-16, which we are, 6 points against the weakest team, 4 against the second weakest, and 3 against the top team is a great group stage. 3 home wins, 1 away win, 1 away draw, and a likely away loss to the top team in the group. That's 13 points. That's fantastic, for the squad we have and our current level.

You're just uttering nonsense and pretty much no one would ever agree with you that a 7-1 home loss to any team, regardless of how overpowered they are (this Bayern is not better than last year's Real Madrid), is better than losing a close away match to a tough team like Olympiakos. And I'm clueless?

Go get your brain checked. It's a little faulty.
Please name the 8 teams in the CL that are better than us.

PSG without Ibra look really toothless, and i think we would beat them over two legs, city just look poor in Europe for some reason (like us) and over two legs it would be close. Atletico would knock us out imo.

I was going to include Porto, but they haven't really impressed me so far. Benfica look a shell of the team that knocked us out last year

City, PSG and Atletico will almost certainly beat us over two legs imo. Probably Arsenal, Dortmund, Porto, Benfica as well.
Benfica actually beat us over the two legs last season, but their squad was raped over the summer , I cant imagine they will pull that off again this season.

We sure have the players to be amongst the very best but our style of play limits these players from taking us all the way. The main idea behind our tactical setup is having a regista like Pirlo that can move the ball at his will. Only when Pirlo is not world class, and he often isn't, the idea of football Conte implemented is not working against sides that play modern attacking football with possession and pace. Bayern played a formation of somewhat 3241 last night. They have a great defense but also gamle quite a bit when having so many players on the opposition half. First half they had 4 players luring at the offside trap. And when the wingers are pure wingers and not wingbacks you see the difference amount in goals. We're years behind Bayern and suited to a tactic that limits us in so many ways. We have the players to play attractive football and we do when we play in serie a but sadly we only play good football in CL when our opponents let us. Just like Bayern let Roma into the game in the second half yesterday.

On paper we have better players then Dortmund, yet if we played them tonight we'd have little or no possession and create very few chances. That's mainly because Klopp is a better coach then Conte and Allegri. (yes. Klopp > Conte)
