James Pallotta before the match today.

Roma President James Pallotta has predicted a 3-1 victory for the Giallorossi against Manchester City tonight, with a Francesco Totti hat-trick.

Rudi Garcia’s men go into the Champions League match knowing that a win would see them reach the Last 16 of the competition, and the club’s President is in confident mood.

“The game tonight? 3-1 to Roma.” Pallotta predicted in an interview with Radio Radio.

“It will be fun. Who will score? I don’t care! Totti, Totti and Totti would be nice…”

The American patron also spoke about the capital club’s plans for the January transfer window, hinting that there would be no new arrivals.

“I think we have a good team, I don’t see any need to change it. Let’s see what happens tonight.

“It’s nice to have [Kevin] Strootman back. It’s a pity about [Leandro] Castan’s situation but things are going well.

“I’ll see him today and tomorrow, I’m glad that his problem has been fixed.

“We’ve also had injuries to the likes of Maicon and Astori. I don’t think there’s any reason for us to do anything on the transfer market.”

Giallorossi goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has come in for criticism after his mistake allowed Sassuolo to open the scoring in a 2-2 draw on Saturday, but Pallotta has backed the shot-stopper.

“These things happen,” the President assured.

“Sassuolo played a great game, and I have a lot of confidence in him [De Sanctis], so much so that we’ve renewed his contract.

“I hope he’ll have a great game tonight.”

More money for Juve. :tuttosport:

More co-efficient points for Italy if Roma wins in EL. :tuttosport:
If Roma wins EL, and they finish 2nd in the league (or even first for that matter) would it mean, the the 3rd place finish in serie a, gets direct entry to CL and the 4th CL-qual???

The German teams continue to do well in the CL, I don't want to sound ignorant, but outside of Bayern and Dortmund I don't see much talent. There's something wrong about the Italian teams, and something right that the Germans are doing which the Italians are ignoring.

VFL Wolfsburg seems to have some talent and a bit of money also. The German economic model seems to work better also, and the stadiums for most sides being full each game. It seems they have invested very heavily in youth football as well in Germany, which is something we see Juventus starting to do, but severely lacking still in Italian football as a whole.

There's much more of a go for it mentality from German teams also, which is a risk-reward gamble, but seems to be paying off for them lately, whereas Italian football seems to remain stuck in this very cautious, play it safe mentality, that just doesn't see to work in modern football.
