The EPL teams sometimes beat a La Liga team, but it never happens an EPL team to literally humiliate a La Liga team the way these Spaniards do to English teams.
Only in the last 2 years I can think of Barca, Bilbao and Atletico destroying their EPL opposition.

Liverpool destroyed Real Madrid 4-0(agg 5-0) in 2009. However, I agree that it usually is the other way around.

We did put 4 past (funnily enough) Atletico Madrid in CL a couple years ago.

It does happen, it just doesn't happen in the stylish, humiliating way that the Spaniards do to the English.

Don't forget Sevilla - Boro in the Uefa cup final. 4-0 to Sevilla.

What Fred said.

Plus, Atletico's and Bilbao's wins came when they were underdogs.

I really don't get the "poor La Liga" argument. The league can be really funny with those defenses, but it's the best league in the world quality wise, no matter how much the English advertise themselves.

That is true, been saying it for a year now and some people laugh. Worse is, some people try and argue that the Serie A is currently better. Its a bitter truth, we all have to live with, the Spanish league is the best in the world. Teams like Valencia and Atletico are better than people give them credit for.

The only problem with that league is that there are only two rich teams who can keep their players and those two big teams can't buy literally every good player in the league. The others are forced to sell. If there were only two more financially decent teams, then La Liga would have had Kun, Mata, Silva etc.

True, it is a big challenge for them. It really comes to show the wealth of talent that Spain has though, you have players like Mario Suarez today, who would never even dream of getting a sniff to the Spanish NT, but is an extremely strong defensive midfielder. He controlled that midfield like he owned it today, absolute wall. Spanish teams keep losing their best players but manage to find decent enough replacements. Over the years Valencia have lost Silva, Mata and Villa. Now they have Feghouli, Banega, Tino Costa and Soldado, who are not as good as the former, but are very good players in their own right. Same with Atletico losing the likes of Aguero, Simao, and Maxi Rodriquez, and replaced them with Falcao, Adrian Lopez and Arda Turan.

The way TV money is distributed in Spain might be benefiting Barca and Real but it is hurting the rest of the league a lot.

A lot of people are saying that it's unfair distribution. But is it really? Real and Barcelona had invested heavily on top players and are the reason why Spanish football is where it is now, they should be rewarded for that imo.

I'm going to be very amused if Chelsea and Man Utd can't do anything this season because of their soft midfields.

It's all very well signing fantastic attacking talent, but if you don't have the midfield to control the game - and provide some muscle when required - you are going to struggle.

They'll both score a shitload of goal against poor teams, but against good sides they are going to have a hard time because they will be dominated in central midfield.

What exactly are Lampard and Mikel meant to offer playing deep?

Neither can tackle, neither have good defensive awareness.

There is no reason at all for Juve not to go and control the games against Chelsea if they play with the same sort of tactics and personnel as they did tonight.
