I know, which is why Spain weren't that convincing in that tournament, they didn't sweep teams aside like they did afterwards. Plus Villa took them all the way to the semi's then, Xavi was not that great in the first round but started playing well in the knockouts. He became the undisputed best midfield player when Pep took over, like Iniesta became the undisputed best attacking mid when Pep came, like Messi became the undisputed best player in the world when Pep came. Coincidences? I don't think so, neither do you imo.
