It's not Villas Boas, it's Chelsea's team that's horrible.

As for Napoli, that's some good work. If it remains 2-1 it's a good result for Chelsea, however if Napoli scores one more then it's trouble.

Oh and Chelsea's midfield is pathetic.
AVB did start Malouda over Essien.

That's probably the worst defensive display I've seen from Napoli in this competition. Completely open and each defender's lack of pace and agility is being exposed, Chelsea actually set up quite well to expose this if they had better players.

Cannavaro by far the worst of the lot, that away goal could be huge.
if chelsea really need even better players than they already have to win then the coach must be utterly crap. they have many more star players, if the coaching god (or should i say "goat") does not achieve to make the team click it's a huge underachievement.

forza napoli (at least in the champions league).

the ball hit a bump in the ground right in front of him, not entirely his fault.

The only thing Chelsea is set up for right now is make the second leg at the Bridge meaningless - this game could easily be 4-0 for Napoli at HT

Villas Boas contributes to that too.

A decent manager would have realised by now that a high defensive line won't fly with this players, same for his 4-3-3 fluid game. We just don't have the players to do it.

Just adopt a more defensive approach or revert back to the diamond and play Mata as CAM.

It's not like Essien's form is great.

And plus he's half of the player he used to be.
Malouda is not even a player anymore.

To be honest I haven't watched much football outside of Liverpool this season. So all I know is Agrtel.:D

Chelsea could have a few more chances if they'd play the ball on the ground instead of constantly flicking it about the Napoli area. I think both teams are fortunate and the scoreline so far is pretty fair.
Chelsea have been pretty poor out there - the only period when they had any sort of control on the game was right after the Mata goal while Napoli were still in a daze and lost their shape. For the other 35-40 min of the 1st half, Chelsea have been utterly helpless out there

Chelsea have had much better players in the last few years than they're starting tonight. Just comparing Luiz and Cahill to previous defenders to begin with.

Nah sorry, Chelsea have had every chance to get more than one away goal here. Easily set up to make the return fixture alright for them, Napoli don't do well at retaining possession from the opponent.
