The moent when Barca really dominated the game was after the PK when Milan were under the weather. Too bad Nesta messed up for the 3rd, which killed the game for Milan.
Milan obviously needs to improve - some crucial misshapps here and there - but nothing that couldn't be taken care off as the season progresses. Some fresh blood in midfield and Mexes gelling in would be very useful in the elimination rounds.
I am not reading anything I don't know already but MvB has been off lately, not just tonight and this only magnified by having to play Barca. Seedorf has a way for turning it on in such games and is a very important player for Milan ... unfortunately, he also isn't at 100% as he just came back from injury.
I do agree that neither of them is 25 yo anymore and not as energetic as they used to be, but both MvB and Seedorf are better than this and can still be usefull down the stretch ... that's not to say that Milan doesn't need fresh blood in midfield.
As for Nocerino on the bench, i agree that he should have started and only one of Seedorf and Aquilani should be on the field at the same time, unless the team is desperate to catch up in the result.

just because Milan were ready to spend that money on one particular player, in that case Fabregas, why should that mean that they would/should throw it away on some other player(s), who weren't worth it?
Nocerino and Aquilani were good purchases considering how they have stepped up their game since then, especially considering what Milan payed for them. Keep in mind that Milan would need to revamp their midfield within a season or so with MvB, Seedorf, Ambro, Gattuso etc likely to leave (Pirlo already has), so Milan does need Nocerinos, Aquilanis, and Montolivos as well - it's not like the club can afford to buy 3-4 players, each worth 30 mil.

To be fair bringing in Aquilani and letting Pirlo go was a terrible move. Making up this mystery player idea then bringing in Nocerino smacked of desperation and a team who seemed to have no ideas on who to buy or lacked the financial ability to do so.
Take Juventus for example yes we did not get Aguero but then we replied with three signings Vidal(10 million) Licht(10 million) Vucinic(15 million).
Ontop of what we already spent for Matri, Quag and Pepe.
This comforted me because it showed we had money to spend, unlike Milan who deep down had very little.

hernanes was not available and it's highly debatable he is worth 30 mil - for that to be the case, a player would have to have proven himself at the highest stage in Europe already, not just shine vs midtable teams in Italy. At this point, Hernanes has proven to be a pretty good player, not a someone a top notch one.
Asamoah and Inler are good players, nothing more than that ... they are not real difference makers - playing for Milan comes with higher expectations than doing well with Udinese and even Napoli. If you are gonna be a player to take Milan up a level and make a diff for the team at CL level football, one's credentials should read more than just doing well for a decent team in a poor Italian league.
Fabregas was what milan needed and wanted and he was worth about twice what he went for ... but that transer had a lot of "history" and "emotions" involved in it, which made very diff to pull off.
After that, Milan tried for Alcantara, but Barca said no.
