Teams used to play with 5 forwards, so you'd expect lots of goals, and extremely one-sided wins once the game started to get away from teams.

Clearly there were a couple of examples of wealthier sides in there too.

Have in mind that it was harder to get a chance to play in Champions Cup back then.
If you play for United, Madrid, Barca, Chelsea etc, you're guaranteed to play in CL every single year. But back then it wasn't the case since only one team from the league was playing in the best competition.
