Yeah, I think he was a lucky bet. Sure he did well in Holland, but so do many other players who never live up to expectations. Klaas Jan Huntelaar for example. I didn't see numerous suitors lining up for Sneijder after his time at Real. I think clubs didn't think he was a safe bet and his price pretty much confirmed that. Would a safe-bet world class player only cost 15 million?
Again, you're talking about Real Madrid. They signed Walter Samuel for 20m Euros and sold him the following year for 3. They're idiots.

Would I sign Sneijder for 15M? Yes. Would I have signed VDV instead of Tottenham for his amount? Surely. Nothing is a sure bet, but the aforementioned players have proven they are talented.

2-1 is not enough, if Arsenal wanted a chance in progressing they should have won 5-1 or something.
Being 0-1 behind 15 minutes before the end, I am sure they are happy, but indeed, it might not be enough, although Barca will miss Pique in the return match.

Da.

Now even 1-0 in Spain will be enough. I expected Arsenal win today when I talked with my friends but I also expect their beating in Spain and if they repeat first half performance it's going to be painful.

Messi didn't play so well, but he didn't choke. He should def. have scored on his chance though.
How did he not choke? He missed all his chances, all of them. He missed chances he usually scores in La Joke of a Liga. That's choking in my book.
Actually, he took choking to a whole new level tonight.

He did assist for Barcelonas goal. If he didn't do it, he would def. choke.

Then what did Iniesta and Xavi do tonight?
Messi gave the assist, he was involved in all attacks, so he didn't choke, he just wasn't as clinical as people are used of him.

It's always great watching Barca lose. A team full of cunts, and supported by cunts.
I did enjoy the display of Jack Wilshere, the kid is so confident, and showed amazing patience on the ball for 19 years old against the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. Sky's the limit for the kid

And that brings me back to my point. Serie A clubs can't sign sure-bet world class players anymore because they face competition from England and Spain (and now probably Germany as well). This makes Serie A a weaker league. Inter got Sneijder because Real wanted to get rid of him and no offers came from England. Believe me, if Chelsea or Man Utd had made offers for Sneijder they would have gotten him, not Inter. They probably didn't because they thought he wasn't a sure bet. You see ,not just talking about Real Madrid.

I also vaguely remember when Real threatened to freeze him out of the squad because he didn't want to go Italy.
