the former of course and for the hate of english teams and their arrogance and ignorace towards italian football
Yeh, that's probably true, the last thing you want is reading English football websites how big Tottenham have become. Milan has an awful winning ratio against English oppositions so I somehow think Tottenham are going to make it through this round. Can't wait for CL, have really missed it :D

How come I always read that it is better for us that our competitors are running in multiple compititions? I haven't understanded that theory so far
The theory is that the squad will get stetched, they will get tired and possibly drop points in the league.

    What Red said.

Add to that they are more likely to rest some of stars in Serie A ahead of big games in Europe which will increase their chances of dropping points. By the end of the season; it will definitely make a big difference.

But how often does that happen? It could be just me but when Barca won CL they won the championship and the domestic cup too?

Inter same thing last year, Bayern made it to the final and were being active in three.

I find that theory a bit shallow, playing 180 minutes a week shouldn't demand too much from a professional football player?

They didn't rest players, they were missing players.

Predictions for Milan tonight? I don't see Tottenham winning but I don't see many goals either.
Tottenham will start better, then Ibra will score with his nose, Dawson will get red card and Kranjcar will score in the 95th minute.

Chelsea benefited from being knocked out early in the UCL last season, their form in the league improved and went on to win the league.

One of the main reasons we did well our first season back from Serie B was because we didn't have Europe to worry about. We had an average squad but all our concentration was on Serie A. It makes a difference; maybe it doesn't make as much as a difference if you're Barcelona or Bayern but it will always make a difference.

Think about it, it only makes sense that it would benefit a team. American football teams benefit from their bye weeks, so why wouldn't any other sports team? More time to heal, more time to regain focus, more time to prepare. Preparation IMO makes all the difference and you cant prepare for Udinese if your busy preparing and playing against Tottenham or any other CL team.

Don't forget it's not only the 180 minutes of football that could affect the team, but also the traveling. Milan will have to go to England, and let's say they get an Ukrainian team in the next round, they'll have to go to Ukraine which will add a lot of fatigue.
And, during the 180 minutes of football, injuries could happen. Last season Rooney's injury against Bayern cost United their whole season.
