Like so many things, personally I see the start of a shift in mentality, it seems that you have to kick calcio in the balls (excuse the double pun) for it to even flinch.
Yeah well let's hope to see a new football era next year. At least when it comes to style.

Hopefully it will be the end of 90s

FT Basel 1 - 0 FC Sheriff
FT Braga 1 - 0 Sevilla
FT Partizan Belgrade 2 - 2 Anderlecht
FT RB Salzburg 2 - 3 Hapoel Tel Aviv
FT Werder Bremen 3 - 1 Sampdoria

The Germans and the Israeli with the best results in this round. Both start with a great advantage. Anderlecht should do the job in Belgium. Despite the small win, Basel are still strong favs against the Moldovan team. Braga-Sevilla looks like the harder to predict.

Crucial away goal from Pazzini. Winning by two goals in the second leg isn't beyond Samp. They looked capable of creating chances when they went forward, even with 10 men. I just wish Italian teams would start being more positive at 0-0.

I just want results, I've seen plenty of teams from 'attacking' leagues go far in Europe playing with a classic Italian mentality in recent years. The league needs investment and to sort other areas off the pitch, it's beating itself up, the rest will follow.

Why would Samp suddenly do that?

They didn't get fourth by dominating territory and possession. They did it by keeping it tight at the back and nicking goals with Cassano and Pazzini.

for those who saw the Bremen-Samp game we should consider ourselves lucky since we got to see both Italian C.Ronaldo and the new Ibra.

Who cares about distant future. At least next year 4 Italian teams will be eligible for CL.

Lets thank Merda for that and lets try to somehow win the 4th place.
