Bale is not a good fullback. At the start of his Tottenham career he was played as a fullback and of course he was quite average. But when played in his more favorable left wing position, he has been consistently good for Tottenham. Also lets not forget Giovinco is two years older than Bale, at this stage of their careers 2 years means a lot.
All of this is true, but Bale has only been a winger at Spurs for a few months of football, and so far it's great potential he is showing. Needs to keep it consistent.

As for who the better player is, i agree that we can't judge that until Giovinco gets an extended period of playing time.

    Solid defending from Samp.

They need to keep the ball better at times, though.

Decent first half. Bremen are the better team. Hunt's having a good game in Ozil's place. Samp remind me of Juve going forward last season. Poor ball retention, hardly any movement. Gastaldello was their best player in that half.

Also, if the question was, who was more fitting as a winger in a 4-4-2, i don't think there is a debate here, Bale is definitely a better option in that case.

Agreed. Since moving to midfield Bale has been excellent for Spurs. And I never said he was a better player than Giovinco, I said he was a better winger which to me is pretty obvious. Since when has Gio been an out-and-out winger?
