They've been on a decline for several years and really don't have more than 2-3 good players plus strikers who can't score goals, veterans who are past it, and a modest completion of their squad. It's true that in Spain the 'rest' are much of a muchness, but the gap from Depor to a Villarreal or Atletico Madrid in terms of personnel is still large. There is a reason why Spanish sides burn brightly for small periods of time and then fade, see the debt figures throughout the league.
