He does, he has to have the ball plenty of times, get it first from defenders and know where to find solutions at all times. Khedira barely wants the ball as RCM, hides from it mostly, plays quick 1-2 passes in movement. He is pretty much about intelligent off the ball movement forward. Defenitely not suited to be static and be the one tho take charge of initial possession building. Its crazy you dont notice this clear difference just because you and others dislike Hernanes so much. Who btw I dont rate in general but is considerably better fit for this task then anyone available one right now. Just because you wish to not see doesnt make Khedira good enough option for that role.

Only compelling argument we need is Allegri never played him in this role and will prolly never do it. He hasnt either prior in his career, saw him plenty of times in Real and kraut NT to notice the obvious.


Same baseless suggestions are made every time Marchisio is injured. Doesnt seem to help the reality of every time this discussion is had they werent chosen but Hernanes or Lemina was.

Hernanes is better than Khedira as regista, no doubt. He can send long passes, he can dribble out of pressure and can take long shots with both feet.

Khedira is better going forward as he plays combinations better and has more work rate to get into the box. Better tackling in space as well.

But if this is the case why wasn't he rested against Sassuolo? Why was it allowed to get to this point? It's a little ridiculous.

It was a home match against a mid-table side. We have 4 forwards, why play Dybala instead of resting him. Edema overload of the soleus doesn't happen overnight, it's swelling/fluid build-up, and it's a gradual thing from overuse in general.

Yeah pretty much as far as handling of the ball hernanes is better, but if you want some tackling in front of defence he is not your guy..at any rate we need runners or physical players in there to keep a body on them in set pieces especially and I just don't know how physical hernanes can be.

Well, Allegri clearly thinks only one game ahead. Sassuolo are midtable level but they are a very uncomfortable team to play against. They took points off every 'big' team there is in Serie A this season. Besides you don't want to play Zaza - Mandzukic as this attack would lack creativity. Morata is hopeless this season, I'm glad he plays less lately.

At the end of the day he couldn't guess which players would get injured during/after the game, let's not be ridiculous.
