Good point. It's a disadvantage too. Esp when the opponent is a tactical team like Atletico or Juve capable of being flexible and playing in different way or counterattacking.

Playing at home first AND taking the lead is a pretty big advantage. In second leg, the team with the lead can set up in whatever way they want. The other team needing to score is predictable and can play in only one way. And as the match goes on, pressure builds up more and team trailing becomes even more susceptible to choking while at the same time becoming even more predictable.

The myth of playing at home second being better is just that - a myth.
The myth is this post.

Every season since the away goals ruled started, more teams progress that play home second. It's obvious, the first leg became about the home team not conceding and the away team searching for a goal. Then in the return leg the home team can play their game more confidently as the necessary result is already defined.

That might have to do with the fact that the teams which play home second are the ones which topped their group (which is supposed to be a reward based on the belief that it's an advantage to play the second leg at home).

Personally, I don't know which is better. I guess it depends on the team. For Juve, I worry whenever we have to chase a result. Some teams may do better in that situation rather than holding on to a lead

Yeah, I agree. And so does pretty much every team in the CL.

Is it just me or do other people feel way more nervous before a home game compared to an away game. The thought of conceding an away goal sends shivers down my spine.
 ... Hold up my friend ..this match not for " little cute girls " feelings ...Just Grab the ball ... Bend the opposition ..and Score >>>>> :madmax:

I see no reason to play MDS instead of Cancelo. U want more defensive coverag?, then play Caceres as a RB but MDS is really out of his depth in the CL. Also offers nothing when defending set pieces.

I expect a frustrating 1-0 loss.
