Ciro Ferrara: It Is Not My Decision To Make If Juventus Sack Me
Ferrara is not throwing in the towel...
Jan 10, 2010 10:19:53 PM

The Bianconeri were thumped at home by the Rossoneri tonight 3-0, and Ferrara's position has come under intense scrutiny.

Many people believe that Ferrara may have coached his last game in Turin, with Guus Hiddink possibly replacing him, but the Italian does not fear losing his job.

“This is a very difficult moment," Ferrara told Sky Sport Italia.

"We didn’t start too badly but we seem to be punished with very opportunity. Milan scored with their first chance.

“However, I don’t feel in danger of losing my job, I am very concentrated.

"I am trying to put my energy into the team. It is not my decision to make if they sack me or not, and if I am sacked I will accept it.

“I am not giving up.”
he is a fucking EMBARASSMENT !!!

That might be our problem then. But I guess we still have to blame it all on Ferrara, and not on his coaching staff, players (*cough* Melo *cough*) or Board.
When 24 of your 25 players play shamefully and underperform match after match, playing worse in every next match, then I have no other option but to blame their boss.

You can blame a player when he plays bad and the others are good (Zlatan in Juve's second year), but it can't just happen everyone in the team bar Chiellini to play the way they play.

Ciro Ferrara won't resign and feels he can turn Juventus around, but concedes he will “accept any decision” from the club.

“Evidently the 3-0 result is clear and came about through three set plays, something that has also cost us in other games. By that stage we didn't even have the strength to react,” he said of the 3-0 home defeat to Milan.

“This is a very difficult moment in which we tend to be punished at the first chance. It's true we didn't create much, but we also kept Milan down too and it took a dead ball situation to break the deadlock.”

The Coach opted for a new 4-4-1-1 system, but it failed to solve their issues.

“We often went with long balls that were difficult for Amauri to deal with. With this system we need a lot of pressure down the flanks, which allows us to run fewer risks at the back and creates a few more problems for us going forward.

“We tried to change and clearly it did not go well. I changed in part because of the players who were missing, so it was to some degree a forced decision. I opted to go down this path and take full responsibility.”

Guus Hiddink remains in the background as a potential replacement for Ferrara and the fans staged protests during the final minutes of the match, setting fire to the stadium seats.

“I don't think that I risk my job. I am far more concentrated on what we need to do in order to turn around this negative situation,” noted Ferrara.

“The rest is not up to me and I don't make those decisions. I try to do all I can to overcome this bad moment, then I will accept any decision.

“I am not the kind of person who abandons the ship. It's not my style and I will try to turn this around.

“I understand the disappointment of the fans. Our attitude must change their minds and the way things are going. Everyone is disappointed and we're sorry for that.

“I don't think it would be wise to set targets right now other than to recreate the enthusiasm with which we started the campaign and then build from there.”

I don't think that leonardo is really a better coach than ciro. He just has the players to run close to the same formation that they have run for years so they don't need that much coaching. We have run mostly 4-4-2 but don't have the players for it at the moment. Therefore, our players also need to learn a new system and Ciro really doesn't have the experience to pull it off. Anyway it's time for him to go now and we need a real coach for once.
