I actually thought that whenever Poulsen played he actually did something Melo and Sissoko didn't do quite right. Pass the ball, and atleast he was rather "consistent" provided that Sissoko goes berserk from time to time and Melo looked rather stupid on ocassions.

Melo is better than him, yes. Hope he shows his worth but still i think Poulsen is an all around better dm than sissoko.

You gotta be shitting me, right?

Sissoko is better than Poulsen in the destroyer role. I agree. Melo, while being a better player than Poulsen was crap last season. He had his moments of brilliance, but the amount of passes he misplaced, the amount of sheer stupidity he showed on the pitch was unparalleled. Poulsen was never 'average at best'. He has always been a good, solid DM.
I don't like him a lot. I just find it stupid that people try to put blame on him even though he has been good for us when the whole team was bad, while defending others, however crap they played, by saying the whole team was bad.
The reason a lot of people in here hate on Poulsen (not you Dooz) is because he's not Alonso.
Molinaro, now there's a player I like a lot :D
You hit the nail on the head here.

Whole Juve sucked and you shouldn't even be comparing them. Sissoko had a terrible season while Melo was better but not much. Yet again they were all awful. Sissoko did bad but he was great when he joined. Melo has potential to be great with a good coach while Poulsen was always average at best. His best matches were only decent and average. He simply doesn't fit in here. He's a bit improved version of Tiago. You like him a lot and that's why you defend the guy.
You're biased, Dooz. You said we can't compare Pou and Momo last season because whole Juve players played sucks last season, but yet you mention and compare with how Momo played 2 seasons ago when he was great. At that time, a whole juve players did better. And just to remember, Momo first season (half season) was not that great, he is done a lot of mistakes also if you can remember several games after he joined like against Reggina (miss bycycle kick that lead to Reggina's goal), also against Torino..

One thing also, do you judge a player based on past form or current form? If Momo did great 2 season ago and done better than Pou that time. And then this season Pou did better than Momo, how can you still said Momo will better fit for us.

It's not about what he has done, but what he will do. I don't want to lose Melo, because the potential is there. Moreover, he doesn't drain 3.3 Million Euros from our budget on an annual basis.

That sounds a lot more sensible, but that shouldn't make him untouchable.

And when it comes to finances: overall, Melo drains more from our budget than Poulsen does.

I am assuming you are talking about the fact that we have yet to pay the full amount to Fiorentina (we bought him on instalments, didn't we?) coupled with his annual salary, because if my memory serves me right, his annual salary is significantly lower than that of Poulsen.

Let's give both Poulsen and Amauri contract extensions. We already give away millions to charity, we may as well be a charity for "almost footballers".

You didn't get me right. I wanted to say how Melo played a bit better than Sissoko towards the end, not Poulsen. I don't know what you see in that guy, IMO he's average at best, especially here in Juve. He's a type of player like Zanetti but even worse as he can only pass to short distance and that's it. At everything he does he's only average.

Not necessarily the fact that we still have to pay some installments (heck, we may even need to pay 1 more installment of Poulsen's transfer fee, not quite sure).

But when I talk about the cost of a player, I always look at the complete picture: salary + signing cost (+ any other variable costs that may occur in special occasions).

So while Melo's salary may be significantly lower (pretty likely that it's too high as well), right now the overall cost of him is significantly higher than that of Poulsen.

I'm not judging by current but their skills - Poulsen hasn't got any I'm afraid. There's nothing extra he do. Sissoko can be great with a good coach and he did show that for some period, I don't know exactly when it was but he did show it and he can still be useful under the right guidance. Melo has potential as well, we used in differently and everybody said so, he's always great for Brazil and he was very good for Viola.
For all that time Poulsen was only average, as he did nothing. He offered decent passes, tackles...some poor shots. His job can do a 3mln euros worth players who earns 1mln/season. Ekdal would be more useful for us than him.
