We did not 'get rid' of Nedved.

And no-one had any idea of how we were going to play with the 4-4-2 we used in the last few years.
I have an idea, based on Juventus game last 10 years, no matter who was in charge they didn't change much in tactics, so I think that ferrara would do the same, but he will choose better players than Ranieri did.
He won't pick marchioni every game or Molinaro and nedved (he is no longer around)

Nedved was worthy of his place.

Molinaro was the best option at LB for most of the season.

Marchionni was only ever a back-up.

Giovinco could play in Marchioni's position since his crossing and dribling is a lot better than him. Nedved played too many games, while Molinaro was overused, so de ceglie could have done a better job:)

For the Poulsen vs Diarra argument. I have the impression that Diarra can defend better and he would be a better choice, if we are thinking of the 4-2-3-1.
He is younger (one year) and probably has more potential than Poulsen, who didnt impress us this year with his reliability either.

However he is more injury prone lately and this can be a problem. (though he has been pretty reliable in Lyon)
IMO, he is meant to replace only Sissoko in the 4-3-2-1 (meaning the DM in the middle of the 3 man midfield)
Whilst Poulsen can play both as DM (less effectively) and as CM too, covering any of the positions around Sissoko.
Actually, i believe it is an ideal position for Poulsen and this year we might unlock the best of his abilities
!!

Considering Secco's skills and their market value.
I believe the difference we are asked to pay is not justified, neither tactically or strategically. So i see no reason on wasting time and money here, when we have more important things to worry about (defense)
Anyway the interest on him was has faded out...
I have followed Poulsen since his time in FC Copenhagen and his best position is DM not CM. Thats part of the reason he didn't preform better this season because he tends to fall to deep in a 4-4-2. He played the DM role in Sevilla with great results, and he plays the DM role on the Danish national team in their 4-3-3. Trust me on this one :)

It was seeing highlights of some of Denmark's matches which reminded me that Poulsen could indeed be a quality player. For his national team he is a potent hatchetman who sits in an anchor man position, breaks up opposition attacks and begins offensive assaults for his own side. He looks a completely different player for Denmark than he had done, thus far, with Juve.

Like with Tiago, Poulsen will have a chance this season to prove his worth. Perhaps as with Giovinco, and perhaps Tiago, his progress has been stunted and stifled by Ranieri. With Ferrare at the helm and a new system which potentially suits all of those players, the responsibility for failure will fall on only their own shoulders.

In my mind, we have marchisio and momo as definite starters, then one of Tiago and Poulsen. Diego will be playing between midfield and attack, so we have three positions in midfield to fill.

i think that Tiago could be perfect for playing between Marchiso and Momo, as a deep lying playmaker. he was accomplished in that role at chelsea...

No that's the total package if i understood correctly. 7m to Juve and the rest for his wages.
You sure?
La Stampa may have screwed it up but I read:

Potrebbe mettere a posto tutto un sì di Christian Poulsen, per il quale il Besiktas ha fatto un’offerta da fantascienza: 18 milioni di euro, secondo la stampa danese, decisamente incredula, come chiunque dotato di buon senso.

I ve also heard of his defensive coverage in those cases, but i believe that in serie A, he just cant cut it!! Just like i said before, in Spain they rather mark with speed, than physicality. Italy is not EPL, or even Germany, but they do have a load of strong midfielders and the opposition is accustomed of facing harsh defending!

But his CMs skills can be proved really helpful, actually more helpful than his DM solidarity. I also believe that his new balanced role will fit him more and he will unlock more of his potential.
But for the games Sissoko will be out:shifty: , our defensive solidarity will be compromised and i dont think that Poulsen can do much to change that... I hope that he will find his "balls", if we keep him...

I disagree. I’m sure he'll cut it defensively in a DM role since he did so in germany, spain and on the national team. His strengths is not speed but his positioning, tactical understand and physicality ( remember how he neutralised totti ), not his pace ( he's rather slow ). The biggest problem will be his offensive qualities, because he's no midfield general and tends to play it safe.
Besides I actually don’t think sissoko will play the DM, but that remains to be seen…

Barcelona want him
