Not as usual, if he was that effective usually no one would consider him a flop.
He is inconsistent. But that was a great game by Poulsen. He was the main reason our defense didnt concede more goals and we had some coherence in the midfield!!
A match to remember for him!!
The only reason i wouldnt name him as our MOM was, that by the end of the game he got tired, unlike Grygera...

he was injured for large parts of the campaign, so I wouldn't exactly call him a flop just yet...and even then he produced some good displays

In most of the matches he played, he did the defensive part well and made some good long passes. I don't expect him to pass like Alonso. When the midfield is outrun, him coming on immediately changed the game. I consider him consistent defensively and if could get back some of his Sevilla skills, it would be even better. The 'flop' label is in part because of the Alonso transfer confusion.

The injuries and our expectations convinced him more than his inconsistency!!

We were promised a reliable "champion", a starter who would solve our creativity issues. And we only got Poulsen...
At least, his injuries gave Marchisio, the chance, to prove himself...

I said this many times and i say it again: Poulsen is a player every team in the world would like to have, but no-one would like to have him as the "champion" in midfield who will solve the creative problems.

We didn't overpay for him. He's worthy of every single penny we paid. But i understand those who complain about this transfer because it was obvious that we needed a different type of CM and we got Poulsen instead.

But buy, lets say, Xabi Alonso to replace Tiago, and Poulsen's transfer will suddenly look like a good one.

Since Liverpool did not get Barry, the remaining option is Poulsen, and $10m for an excellent substitute is a good deal. I think the other first choice is Stankovic but the deal was off because of the animosity towards him. Does Stankovic play like Lampard?

Not really, when our priority was some defensive coverage.
We could have signed a free player like Mellberg for depth in the midfield or just bring a youngster and invest the cash we spent on Poulsen at a reliable defensive starter!!

For the midfield we already have some valuable midfielders, but our defense can easily be upgraded with the money we spent on Poulsen, since our starter's current value is waaaaay bellow that!!

ratings are the most fucked up shit on that website! it's like they don't actually need to watch the match to rate the players .. reputation is enough for them .. I'm sure the average rating of sissoko would be around 4.5 !!

I can't see how Tiago's compared to Poulsen. The way I see it, Tiago is competing with Zanetti for the comparatively attacking role of the two centre midfielders whereas Poulsen is in for Sissoko's destroyer role.
