Box to Box midfielder. He makes to many mistakes to be a DM, I think his main strengths are his driving runs forward with the ball. As we saw against Roma as we see with Brazil and as we saw with Fiorentina. He has to much responsibility as a DM and he is to error prone to be playing there. I blame the coaches who give him the role because it is not what he is.
This means that it's either him or Sissoko. I would take Melo and ship Momo.

I could agree with that, but that also means we have only 1 true DM in our ranks, and that is Poulsen (even though you could also classify him as a straightforward CM). Because Marchisio is definitely not a DM & neither is Sissoko.

Yet we have people repeatedly complaining that we play with too many DM's. Surely, something doesn't add up here.

Sissoko needs to be sold plain and simple. Melo should stay and Poulsen SHOULD definatly stay as we saw last night. Next year we should be scrapping the 3 man midfield because it does not work for us. I would rather we opt for the 4-2-3-1 that would leave Poulsen, Marchisio and Melo for the two midfield slots and promote Marrone for the fourth. As we saw last night playing three CM in such a narrow system is a terrible idea especially when you have Melo on the bench who can atleast run with the ball.

Didn't see the game last night since I was attending a Belgian league game, so I can't comment about what exactly happened. I'll just assume it was the same crap as usual.

I do not agree that Sissoko needs to be sold though. He proved himself last season, was one of our best players. Since he is now playing in a position that does not suit him, I feel it's very unfair to write him off. He could & should be a vital part of our midfield, as long as he is used centrally. I'd even say that the 4-2-3-1 is ideal for him (as was the 4-4-2).

Who would you get rid of then? We cannot have Poulsen,Marchisio,Sissoko and Melo on the wage bill its far to many.

For me it would have to be either Poulsen or Melo. Both make way too much money, compared to what they deliver on the pitch. Plus, I think both are easier to sell (read more money incoming) than Sissoko or Marchisio.
In the end, I'd probably let go off Melo, even though I'm not too keen on selling players after only 1 season.
I may not be the right person to ask this though since I was 100% against the arrival of Melo in the first place (due to his problematic behaviour & due to the fact that we did not need him at all).

But I would like to say that keeping all 4 of them may not be such a bad move, considering our record of injuries & suspensions.

In the posistion Sissoko is playing? Yes, he needs to be able to pass the ball. Did you not know Mexes is overated?
I think you misunderstood my post. Sissoko's problems are not only passing the ball, losing it just like that, making silly fouls, and many many other give aways that are really critical in his position.

How is Mexes overrated?

I love how sissoko now is not needed according to the genuis gurus here, considering last season he held our team together, and when he got injured the true weakness of our defense was revealed.

how come the people who want Sissoko sold, don't want Chiellini sold? he gives the ball away just as much, if not more than Sissoko.

That was me being sarcastic, due to the posts I see on here about Mexes. I would love to see him at Juventus. Very good defender in my eyes.

Because we have Poulsen to take Sissoko's place.

Look at Jack's post above and that will explain what Sissoko has been doing all season. Chiellini saves us on most occassions.

do you guys have short memories? Sissoko HELD, HELD the team together last season. When he got injured, we started playing liek shit and our defense was overrun. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE how important he is. So he is as important as Chiellini.

and no poulsen is not as good. there was a reason Marchisio, Zanetti and Sissoko wre ahead of him last season.

This shows how biased you guys are. IF Sissoko should leave, then so should Chiellini. Both of them give needless balls.

Difference is Chiellini doesn't make short passes straight to opposition players while Momo does. Chiellini may hoof the ball up the field but he doesn't play short passes on the ground directly to opposition players. Momo does.

Poulsen is just as good as Melo and Momo. They all have different qualities though and that is the point where you have to decide who can be of use to the team unit and who cannot. Marchisio is always a keeper for me, and I'd be so inclined to keep Momo also due to his work rate and athletic ability. Melo for me was unneeded and more of a impulse buy than anything. We missed out on D'Ago who is a creative CM and picked up Melo who is a destroyer CM. Completely unecessary when we already had Momo and Poulsen. But that comes back to the inexperience of Secco and also Secco's inability to determine what the team unit needs to improve. But that's a different subject completely.

Poulsen yesterday showed how Melo should have been playing his role this whole time. Strong in the tackle, decent passing with some fairly accurate long balls, composed, and he would move around a lot and provide an outlet pass for our defenders, easing them up so they didn't have to just hoof it away. Some things I hope Melo took note of.

that bold part was a bit too much wishful thinking, melo simply lacks the brain for that ... he is something like a instinct player ... someone who does things because its natural to him ...

This team needs an entire makeover and we need to start playing modern football. Sorry, but Sissoko isn't a very useful player in the modern game because he simply can't play the ball. Get some solid box-to-box midfielders in there and decent passers.

At least Poulsen can make simple passes unlike Sissoko.
