i think ranieri learned from the tiago mistake ...

when tiago plays sometimes it looks like he is taking a walk ...

even if poulsen has limited technical qualities you most probably wont see him walk arount like some unmotivated wanna-be star player (who thinks he is so good, that the others have to do the running for him)

I think I'm going to end up liking Poulsen as long as he pisses off Totti, Gattuso, Inzaghi and De Rossi. That's going to be a fantastic.

But still - we have fuckall creativity.

what will more creativity bring ?

just imagine alonso would partner sissoko next season ...

what would be the result ?

would the game look more beautiful ? yes

would we score more goals ? not really, we already have a good attacking force (and looking at alonsos stats he wont bring more goals than zanetti)

would we be more weak in defense ? yes, no one can deny that alonso is not a defender like zanetti or poulsen (in fact i think an opposing midfielder would not be very scared by the thought of having to go past alonso)

Despite not being what we need exactly, I am guessing several of you really dont know him muchexcept few NT games and CL ones. As a La Liga viewer, I would say you will be pleasantly suprised.

P.S This v1rtua4I mofo couldnt be more clueless.

Dont worry he'll do that and I also think he'll do a very good job defensively. But still like you say we lack creativity and thats what I also wanted.

The point is not that Poulsen is a bad signing, but just that many here wanted another type of player ( a creative one ). Thats why I have opposed to him coming because like I feared now our market is closed and we wont get that. I think Pousen/Momo will do well against the bigger teams were we can counterattack but I fear that against the smaller teams were we need someone who can unlock their defence we'll struggle. Just like we did in Jan/Feb.. And I know Zanetti is good and underrated but I still think Xabi would have been an upgrade atleast offensively.

But hey now danish television will cover Juve more in the CL and I get a chance to see another Dane in Juve so Im content but still disapointed that this is our last buy this summer..

Forza Juve and Poulsen :ultra:

Tell me what Tiago offers, tell me why Chelsea got rid of him?,tell me why Lyon were so quick to accept our offer?.
Tiago was one of the best players at lyon, if not the best. Every fan and every player on that team were praising him day in and day out. If you werent watching ligue 1, dont start talking out of your ass. At chelsea he was a solid player, scored some goals, held the ball well and did a very good job at it. Even mourihno said that letting tiago go was a mistake.

We wouldnt have thought of tiago if he hadnt performed well at lyon, so I suggest you get your facts straight, and stop bashing tiago because its the trend on this forum.

We all agree that he didnt perform well for us last season, altough we can argue about many reasons about why he wasnt able to. Many feel that he didnt get a decent chance.

Tiago can be the passer that alonso would have been if he had been a juventino, he has quality and flair. We will see come next season.

So how are we going to break down teams? Run right through them? Injure them all? What's the plan here?

I'm wondering if you even watched our matches last season... if there's one thing we need, it's somebody who can pass the damn ball and open up the pitch through creativity.

injure them all would be a possibility if we start with sissoko and poulsen, yes ... but joke aside..

i watched perhaps 80% of the matches last season ... so i guess i got a slight clue where we struggled.

we struggled when teams like catania a.s.o did take at least 8 players behind the ball and make the space very tight around the last third of the pitch.

so please tell me how is the long ball specialist alonso be the saviour in this situation ? when they got at least 5 defenders in the box you can't play a high ball into the box, because it's pretty easy for them to just head it away...

please tell me what alonso will do, when the opponent plays catenaccio ...

i really did watch a few games and besides some nice to watch long high balls i did not see many low through balls i would expect from a playmaker.

i am being serious.

feel free to tell me what alonso does to get these small teams that just defend out of their own box.

I wish you would stop all this decent chance crap,he got a chance didn't prove himself so he was dropped unfortunatly for Tiago the midfield performed so well last season that he was never again to regain his place. If someone offers to take him off our hands for less than what we paid for him,i would snatch there hand off.Step off that high horse you're on and accept facts Tiago will never succeed here simply because he isen't good enough. Also you say about how well he did at Chelsea get off youtube m8,try coming to England and asking what Chelsea fans thought of him and 95% will tell you they were glad to get rid of that disaster, until then dont comment. hopefully giovinco will step up. with cover like poulsen it's more likely he'll get the chance to.

also, amauri is capable of goals from very little.. I think we will be ok.
that's what i wrote a few month ago (don't know if it was here or in the german forum i visit) ... i believe you have to have players that can dribble to break down such defensive teams ... a striker that can take the ball go past a player and shoot when inside the box ... amauri is a good bet here ... much better then trezeguet how depends on good passes and crosses

Xabi is not just a long ball specialist. IMO he's a playmaker capable of dictating the tempo of a game and able to play those direct killer balls you need against such a defence. I think he would have added many options to our attacking game and would have been perfect for the Italian league. I feel we missed out on a great player for us and exactly what we needed in such games, but I guess we'll never know..

Open up the pitch with passes?

Look, if you don't understand what somebody who can pass the ball will do to our team, something we don't actually have in midfield, then there really isn't a point in discussing Xabi Alonso.

By the looks of it right now, we'll be stuck with three DM's in midfield if Camoranesi is out, so whoop-dee-fucking do.

Another half-arse, lethargic, bullshit Capello-like season where we have no chance in Europe because nobody has the wherewithall to complete a fucking through ball.

i know what you are trying to say but teams that have many men behind the ball won't have a big problem with that.

through balls are wonderful, but when the opponent sits deep there is NO space to play the ball between the backline and the goal ... no space to run into

it is surely much easier to just kick the ball away for a defender, when in the final third of the opponents half every 5 metres there is a defending player...

perhaps i need glasses, but i don't see xabi do magic here ... perhaps you could provide videos where he ever did that against a deep lying defense ... i really guess you won't find one...

assuming that claudio ranieri does know a little more about football than all of us here combined (there will be a reason for him being payed for what he does) and also assuming he did see where we struggled there might be a reason for not spending big on alonso...

yes, we might be pretty much reliant on the wingers (nedved, giovinco, camo) but you know what is said ... you win games with the attack, but win trophies with the backline

to summarize my problem with alonso.

-he is to expensive (for what he would bring US)
-we would probably get more situations on the wings where we could get a cross or pass in .... but remember ... without someone making these crosses you gain nothing ... i must add that camoranesis crosses were awful at times, too (not only molinaros known crosses over all players in the box)

No, I will not use YouTube videos to prove a point. It's pretty worthless actually.

Xabi Alonso would at least provide us with the pinpoint passes to rearrange the opposition defense when they're packed in tightly, thus causing holes to form and defensive mistakes. Difference here is that Xabi Alonso has the quality to complete passes that the other central midfielders cannot. But hey - if you don't find that important, suit yourself.

Fill the team up with Zanetti, Poulsen and Sissoko and be done with it. Who the fuck really gives a damn anymore? Field Knezevic while we're at it and call this summer a success.

Yeah, this Xabi talk was just a smokescreen for Poulsen.

Yeah, that's right. We'll surely go far in Europe with zero creativity and a system that needs wingers when we only have one capable in Camoranesi.

European Champs, here we come.
