Giorgio Chiellini believes the Bianconeri’s ability to halt Napoli’s counter attacks proved the key to this evening’s 2-0 success over the Partenopei.
The 28-year-old, who dealt admirably with the movement of the visitors’ striking trident, spoke of his satisfaction at Juve’s defensive display.
Chiellini said: “Napoli approached the game with the same mentality as the Coppa Italia and Super Cup encounters. They look to draw us out before pouncing on the counter. Cavani, Pandev and Hamsik are probably the best attacking unit out of our Italian rivals. We did well to stop their counter attacks.
“I felt the game was probably built up a bit too much. However, we saw a decent and correct encounter, intense, but it never crossed the line. We won and we’re happy about that, it’s never easy to face Napoli.”
