ok, i duno if its just me or what, but this annoys me up to the point i have to start this thread, just becaue he whine about first team football doesnt mean we can just force zambrotta to the right, the team isnt balance with both zambrotta and camoranesi on one flank

and if crapello demands zambrotta to focuss on defense so camoranesi can attack more, he is just not maximize our players' potiental and will eventually turn our zambrotta to an average player :sick:

i dont really care about chiellini, dont think he is a real juventino, what do u guys think

To an extent I agree with you but allowing Chiellini more time isn't the only reason that Zambrotta plays on the right nowadays. With Zebina injured and Pessotto's best years behind him starting Zamboy on the right and Giorgio on the left might be our best option. Blasi isn't good enough to start for us as far as I'm concerned and Balzaretti, well, I suppose he deserves a chance but Chiellini is a young player with potential so I can fathom why he plays as opposed to Balzaretti, Blasi and Pessotto.

The part about Capello's tactics restricting Zambrotta I agree with. In Lippi's last season at Juve Zambrotta was one of the best attacking left backs in the world. His bombing runs down the flanks and quality crosses were pretty much standard but under Capello he doesn't venture forward as often as he used. Capello is so strict when it comes to defensive stability and organization and he seems to be trying to develop Gianluca's defensive skills and while that's all fine and dandy I miss his offensive contributions.

Stu is right here. To get the best out of Zambro, we need him on the left. But then, he's made adjustments before -- midfield, defense, etc. That guy is proving to be so tremendously versatile, I would not be surprised if he takes to RB the way he eventually did at LB. But yes, the fact that it seems like he's doing it to make room for Chiellini is something of an irritant... if not for the fact that we're shy on real RB options to begin with.

It's just weird now to see him play for the Italy NT and be freed to do things he's not yet able to do at RB for us.

Forza Zambro. Talk about a team player. And he gets it done, too.

Fielding Zambrotta at right-back and Chiellini out left is really the only option we have at the back right now considering Zebina is still injured and Blasi is just not good enough for Juventus. Il Professore Pessotto is one of my favorites, however he is not in greater form than Chiellini at the moment, so we are stuck with this plan.

What I do not like about this current setup is how Zambrotta is not able to push forward as much due to Camoranesi's presence on the wing...Gianluca looks more comfortable on the left and with Nedved playing he tends to fill in the space that Pavel vacated when the latter pushes centrally. In a way we are not using Zambrotta to his maximum capacity and having our two best crossers of the ball on the same side of the pitch creates an imbalance in the team...leaving Chiellini on the left who does not have the skill to get decent crosses off consistently does not give us much firepower on that respective side of the pitch.

Until we obtain Sagnol in the Summer I think we are pretty much stuck with this setup, unfortunately.

well, both neddy and camo are capable of going through the middle and allowing zambrotta to come up, the thing is that capello would not instruct both his full backs to attack and we have all seen just how capable chiellini is on defence

I would rather much have Zambrotta play left midfield, with neddy thinking about early retirement I think Zambo would be an instant solution. For now, Zambo looks good on the right, he actually ventures more forward on the right than he does on the left (in capello era), Camo seems to be able to cover back more than neddy. Trez's goal was created by Zambo on the right and we know thats the side he started off with.

I've always been a fan of our left side consisting of both Zambo and Chiellini. So I'd like to see sum of that in the future.

Yeah, Zamboy has been doing fantastic on the right side.

Remember he started as a right winger before converted to LWB?!

I believe also Chiellini is starting to improve at the left side of the flank.

This could be our fixed setup for the rest of the season if zebina is going to be ousted.

zambrotta years ago while playing for bari was used as a right winger and even a forward. and his right foot is his natural one, we converted him to play left back. and he, being the versatile chap that he is, had no problem with it and became probably the best left back in the world. but to make a long story short, if he was converted from an offensive right player to a defensive left player so easily he will have no trouble adapting to his natural right side in the defense. and chiellini is still 21, he can still improve, and this is really the best solution we can muster.

blasi is not a real rightback and he was put there before because we are short of rightback... he did well in the first few matches... but still, blasi's ability to play at fullback is less impressive than chiellini's ability... so, the only solution is to push versatile player like zambro to the right to give it more balance for the team...

I would love to see zambro runs forward more often... the past few years, he was regarded as the footballer that run the most (longest distance in 90 minutes)... he does that in every match... I think Capello is trying to make every player more discipline for his tactics... he can not give so many freedom to many players in the team... if that is so, almost everyone in Juventus team will have freedom to attack...

By the way, hopefully the rumours about trabelsi, maxwell, nigel de jong, and sagnol coming to Juventus are true... I would love to see at least two of them play for Juventus... then that way, Juventus will be well covered in every area...

Hope Chiellini will improve faster and shows his true quality as he was once regarded as the next Zambrotta when he was playing with his old club!!!!

i personally wanted to see zambo at r back and now we are forced to play him here it is the mans natural side and once he adapts to playing with camo they will form a lethal partnership

It's rather ironic how things turn out under Capello and even more ironic that some members propose putting Zambro as RB and Chiellini as LB and shaking their head claiming imbalance on the current situation of both players. Zebina is out injured and Capello has been wrecking his brain to fill the RB role. Unfortunately both Blasi and Pessotto failed to live up to expectations and Balzaretti is still unproven to him, so the best solution is to move Zambro to the RB position. And now it ends up with having 2 Italian NT crossers on the right side and a young lad + an old lad at the left.

Actually a solution to this would be putting the trident, with Zambro on the right and Chiellini on the left. Both r pacey players and we would be able to get lots of chances, and the ability of both players to run up and down. Mutu will be used instead of Nedved. However 1 bad point is Chiellini's defensive abilities still makes me uncertain about him.

he can adapt at any situation,
he is our current best option as RB,
as team we gain more using him as RB and Chiellini LB than use Blasi RB,
its seems to be our strongest scheme available,
the other thing is, Chiellini is the future,

Pires,Mutu or even Cassano may cover our LM next year in case Neddy cant,
if Chiellini fail to proove himself Sagnol will take his place in our first eleven

I agree with this, Zambrotta as left midfielder. Each time he actually DOES venture forward in a match it makes me long for more, as he is so effective and disciplined in attack. He rarely makes a wrong move. A good way to utilize this is to let Zambrotta play as midfieder, instead of the aging Nedved. I prefer Mutu upfront instead of as a midfielder anyway. Only problem with this is, that the rightback issue becomes an ..issue again. In theory the Zambrotta RB and Chiellini LB is a good idea, and both are performing reasonably well. Though I think Zambrotta in a more attacking role would be even better. Noone knows how to find Trezeguet, like Zambrotta knows how to.

Zambro is the best player any team will dream to have..he opens up alot of options to the coach by being so versatile..

i believe that if we get Sagnol, Zambro/Chiellini will be used to replace the ageing Nedved..Capello is actually building a squad that will be very flexible by having players with double or more positions that they can play..(Zambro, Blasi, Giannichedda, Thuram, Mutu, etc) In this way, we can have a variety of tactics to choose from, be it a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 or 3-5-1, etc...

with all these options, we will not have to worry about injuries and imo, it is a very strong squad..

i think zambrotta does not mind which position he plays RB or LB its just he had a good understanding with nedved on yhe left and esp when DP played aswell the left wing was fantastic, but give it a few more games and zambrotta and camo will grow more understanding together, we seen it v roma zambo sets camo up for the cross for the first goal and zambo perfect assist on trez header.

after all chellini is only 20 give him a while to develop most top quality full backs are at least 25, he needs exp he is settling in and improving

Well during the Lippi era, Zambrotta was RW then was put back to RB, then switched to LB.

Well if Sagnol were to come, Zambro would move to the left again.
If Nedved chooses to retire early, Zambro will be moved up to be left midfielder. This is where his offensive abilities were to be showcased again.

Right now, we have somehow solved the RB problem at the time being, and I think Capello will continue to field both Chiellini and Zambro at matches even if Zebina were to return. But yet we have another problem, the backup for the 2 wing backs.
