Giorgio Chiellini has urged his team-mates not to underestimate their opposition when high-flying Shakhtar line up at Juventus Stadium tomorrow night.
The reigning champions of Ukraine are currently on a 25-game winning streak and the defender appreciates the Bianconeri will be in for a tough test.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Vinovo, Chiellini said: “We’ll be taking on a very strong and underrated outfit. When the draw was made I heard people talk about an easy group, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Shakhtar have players who would make the starting line-up of the majority of European sides. We’ve got a lot of respect of them.”
The 28-year-old - who has been with Juventus since 2005 – knows how magical Champions League nights can be and called on the fans to provide a red-hot atmosphere to spur the Bianconeri on to victory against Lucescu’s men.
“We experienced a special atmosphere in London, but this is our first home game and will be extremely exciting. It’s been tough to watch this tournament as an outsider.
“We’re aware that tomorrow’s game is the most important of the group, so we’re counting on our fans to fill the stands and make it even more special.”
