Give us more puzzles for now. I don't even want to think about playing. Knowing myself, the first game will lead to 6 months of full obsession.

Here's a nice one:

Can white checkmate in 3?

Hm, white can even mate in 2 moves here, if black plays the wrong moves, but we must always assume black does not. So 3 is the quickest mate, with correct play from both.

In this position, if black was a grandmaster, he would just resign on the spot. Then again, I doubt he'd reach this position in the first place.

That's why it's so tricky, cause it's counterintuitive to give up such a strong piece.

Yea I was sitting like 2 hours over this, trying to push the king against the border or against my king with both rooks. But in the end 3 moves weren't enough.

Now lemme check the new one

We need control over f7 so

1)d1-->d5
now black can either use knight or queen but since knight won't cover f7 black uses queen d8-->d5
2) white queen h5-->f7 black queen d5-->f7
3) knight e5-->d7
since the black queen got quite a booty there is no way out for the king

Why? It's gud imo

At first I wanted to move my h7 bishop out of the way and then ram my queen into h8 but he can find a way out by moving his e7 bishop somewhere. I'd loved this method but no idea how to prevent his bishop from moving away in one move.

I think your strategy is defendable by putting bishop on f6 after you take the pawn with your queen. You win obviously, but not in 3 moves

with your first one you were right as Jem said

1. Rxd5 Qxd5 (your rook takes bishop move and black's reply)
2. Qxf7+ Qxf7 (your Queen takes pawn move and black's only legal reply, as the king cannot take, because of your knight on e5).

horse from c5 to b7 + the king has only c8 to move to
horse from d5 to e7 = checkmate
