It does feel personal or at least they have been told to feel it's personal.

It's one of the ways they are recruiting terrorist by claiming the west is attacking muslims.
It is unfortunately not a claim, brother. I know you maybe a good person, but Western governments are not thinking in the same good way you're thinking at. They are really attacking Muslims. Look at it all over the world without believing the propaganda you hear all the time in some of your media, and you will reach the conclusion that it is a very organized war against Muslim civilians, not by you, but by your greedy governments.

It's so fucking ironic that rebel wants us to respect his values while he refuses to respect ours.

Freedom of Speech is a keystone in any democracy. It's there to ensure as much freedom as possible.

Do people get hurt? Yes. But not one group was singled out by Charlie Hebdo. The ridiculed everyone. Satirical comedy per se.
Yes, but it all changes when it feels like stalking. To him satirical comedy apparently feels like stalking. It's obvious that his feelings and emotions are off and this is why he is responding this way and fails to see that it's just basic freedom of speech.

I like you, Reb, I really do, but you sound delusional.

Allah brags about drowning the Egyptian army. 2:50

If someone murders your slave, then you get to kill one of his. If it was a male that was killed, you kill one of the killer's male slaves. If a female, you kill a female. Murder for murder. Slave for slave. It all works out swell with Allah's wondrous rules. (Oh, and if you don't follow them, you'll have the usual painful doom.) 2:178

It's interesting to read his posts. I think they have given me more insight than anything else so far.
    :agree:

The reason I still read the news and politics section in this forum, even though I know that a very considerable portion is from or about people I absolutely do not agree with nor will never agree with, is that it gives me the opportunity to get to know how people who I would never encounter otherwise think.

Wikileaks and Edward Snowden are also showing us how hypocritical is the notion of freedom of speech BTW.

You do know that most people in the Middle East never have seen the pictures, right? It's used politically to start an uprising.

Seven, I don't support those who made this attack. But I'm trying to discuss what they did with you knowing the reasons they used for this attack

Exactly. No one would stop you from critizising Charlie Hebdo either. Their cartoons are often extremely vulgar and disrespectful, and I can understand that people might get offended by them.

But the same freedom of expression gives you opportunities to protest against this, to openly criticise them, hell, even to launch campaigns discouraging the purchase of the magazin. Violence in response to any expression of opinion however is not acceptable.

i was banned for using quotes from the quran/bible, for saying fuck radicals numerous times, yet no one opened their mouths about the freedom of speech, that's why my point was always right - the history of humanity teach us that someone have to die to for the sake of change

This is what I said yesterday. You have some Muslim people here praise attacks like these and advocating Sharia. They're the worst hypocrites.

    That's not exactly hypocrism I think :D

I mean it's horrible, but they're not hypocritical just by doing that. If they're at the same time advotcating freedom of expression, that would be hypocritical.

They are using the same freedom of speech to advocate against freedom of speech. If that's not hypocrisy, then...

Anyway, I'm sorry for any dead civilian who had nothing to do with provoking any war or had nothing to do with making fun of anybody's beliefs. I feel I have to say this because I think some people here may think I support targeting civilians randomly just because their governments are targeting civilians in other countries...
Just because you cannot draw your prophet does not mean that I, or anyone else, should be forced to abide by your rules.
