Oh I agree. But since the Paris shootings I've had numerous arguments about this at work (Amnesty International) and I'm genuinely the only one advocating a slight revision in the way we treat Islam in the media. Not silencing valid criticisms, but just avoiding crass caricatures to put a halt to dividing the society here in Copenhagen at least. Liberty of speech and opinion is not going to simply fade way during the night if we approach things realistically and stop marginalizing Muslims through the media.

They loved provoking everyone. And they did indeed provoke everyone - don't you think there were some offended catholics when the portrayed the combined cardinal crops $#@!ing each other up the ass? It was a barbaric act and any attempts of white washing it by pointing fingers at the newspaper is not going to be taken seriously by any civilized human.
I'm not trying to justify anything. This was an incident in Paris few days ago. Hundreds of civilians are being killed all over the world. They are not mentioned in the same way. That is what I'm saying briefly

They are also usually killed in a zone of ongoing conflict and not because they made a cartoon. Surely you understand why newspapers want to report on this?

What a simple and stupid comparison.

Talk about not understanding the situation.

So, being a Syrian for example is enough to be bombarded and killed on a daily basis since 4 years without having anybody caring about that because you simply live in a zone of ongoing conflict!

France is a party in that conflict by the way as it is shelling civilians in the north, if you don't know

If you're is killed, you would pay more attention too. For your information, this is not common on our part in the world.

I'm not saying it's okay to bombard you. Just that it isn't really news. Lots of Syrians are killed because it's a zone of conflict. There is much news about that conflict, but there is less about particular cases, because it makes no sense to bring it that way.

There's no war going on in France on the other hand.

This is true. All lives should be measured equally. And it sucks to admit this but many (if not most) of the problems in the Middle East are due to western colonialism and imperialism.

So, the members of this forum were killed few days ago, and that is why they care about this MAJOR incident?
Fuck this. Yes, it's bad that people are getting killed in Syria. It's awful that they are killed in Congo and the Central African Republic. But I hardly see why MY newspaper can't bring news that might affect ME.

Yeah, the west is to blame for everything bla bla bla bla bla.

100 years later and still a backward region: "The west is to blame bla bla bla bla"

200 years later... you get the picture.

I can understand that. But YOUR newspaper should have told YOU that YOUR AIRFIGHTERS have been killing civilians at Mali, north of Syria and Iraq for months now, and it should have told YOU to be careful from the reactions of these crimes...
