Del Piero: We're on our way

Alessandro Del Piero hopes this victory can be “the first big step” towards emerging from Juventus' crisis.

They were hanging by a thread after two straight Serie A defeats and a 2-2 Champions League draw away to BATE Borisov.

However, tonight's 2-1 win over Real Madrid boosted morale and put them top of their Euro group.

“I am happy and my goal allowed us to play a certain type of game in moments of difficulty. We all did very well today,” smiled Il Capitano.

His fantastic strike gave Juve the lead just six minutes in and Amauri doubled it before Ruud Van Nistelrooy sparked a late comeback.

If we beat BATE in Turin even a 1:2 or 2:3 defeat against Zenit will mean that we're qualified.
Zenit can have maximum 10 pts (they need to beat BATE and Real away and they have to beat us in Russia) but if we beat BATE we'll also have 10pts and then H2H is what counts. Since we've beaten them 1:0 in Turin any defeat by 1 goal difference (apart from 0:1) will see us through.

BATE's draw tonight was huge for us.

Indeed the early game tonight was a big bonus for us and I think it was what made Real perform less than their potential. I would love a win against BATE as I'll be in the stadium but I don't want us to play the game with win as a must, I want us to qualify before.
