I agree. The other day I was reading the headlines from Der Spiegel and to my surprise I understood almost everything. Maybe I should abandon french and give german a shot.

yeah i studied French for 3 years longer than i did with German yet for some reason i picked up German a lot quicker and better, might have something to do with my father being able to speak yiddish which is basically bastardised German, but i think if you can grasp either one of Spanish, French, German, Italian it does make it a whole lot easier to pick up another european language

Es nervt dich bestimmt, dass du keine Umlaute benutzen kannst, respektive nicht in der Lage bist, das "scharfe S" schreiben zu können.
