Arteta has an annoying, loser-ish mentality. In the pre-game press conference he said, a little tongue-in-cheek, that Arsenal would have "won" the title this year with the points totals they had in the past two seasons, despite the season having not finished yet and with Liverpool able to reach both of those totals. Even if he said it with a smile it was really odd and I suspected he meant it, that a title win was about being in the right place at the right time, as if Arsenal couldn't have done anything this year. After last night's game he claimed that Arsenal were as good as any team in the tournament. I mean, that's fine, but you aren't getting a trophy for that.
I think he knows that time isn't on his side to start delivering trophies, having to justify the work he's doing. It's good work, close to being great, but every coach in his position has to win at some point. Arsenal may give him years yet but it won't be forever.
