Kounde out of 2nd leg with hamstring injury, I think he's Barca's best defender in their current back 4, Gerard Martin also another weak link playing because Balde out injured. I think Inter favourites for the tie

But something I find interesting is how tactically weak La Liga and its coaches are. This Barcelona team has been winning and leading the table for a whole season with this defensive style. If a team played like this in Serie A, I think they’d only manage results for about 10 weeks before others figured them out with counter-tactics.
Like who? Italiano? There's maybe 3 good coaches in the league. Conte, Inzaghi and Ranieri.

This is not a great barca team but they're on track to win everything with a few lloyd kellys in defense and Tek in goal ffs. Give credit to the coach.

I agree that they can win the tie.

I don’t agree about them playing an awesome game. They scored some freak goals, got manhandled by Barca and are lucky to walk away with a tie.

Freak goals? Two were from set pieces. If anything, Barca scored some absolute freak goals all down to individual brilliance.

Barca manhandling them was expected but they were much better defensively in the second half.

It's a fair result tbh. Barca were atrocious defensively.

By freak goals I mean a back heel kick, a bicycle kick and a header where the goalkeeper completely fucked up.

Barcelona have an impressive attack and a young kid who will be, if he already isn't, the best player in the world, but it's a team that would have been manhandled by both Juve teams in 2015 and 2017.
But we faced the two best and most complete teams in the history of the sport :(

I’ve had the exact same thought watching the game too.

Our timing fucking sucks.

That is Hansi Flick for you.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good coach and I'll always be grateful for how he won us the treble in 2020. But he's too one dimensional in his approach imo. It's all about attacking totally gung-ho. When it works it's brilliant, but there's no plan B at all. The defensive line is so vulnerable because he only knows one way to play.

With that said, if he ends up winning another treble then you can't really say anything against it. The winner is always right. Just that I prefer a coach who's having more tools in his box.

They wouldn’t have gotten out of the Benfica game if it weren’t for Tek. He’s done exceptionally well for them considering what he has in front of him. The defence was relatively better in the Inter game than they were for the Benfica or Celta Vigo games for example. Disparaging Tek while asking for the coach to be given due praise is disingenuous.

This is a great Barca team. Raphinha looks like the ballon d'or, Yamal is the best talent in football, Lewandowski, Olmo, Pedri, Gavi, De Jong, Kounde, Araujo

They are more stacked than they have been in years. Flick's madness makes for a great watch.

And i agree, Inter played an awesome game. Last night was the best match I've seen all season.

They crossed the center of the field 1 time and scored in 1 minute.

Then they scored from 2 corners.

The great game

The sound of the crossbar being hit is the most satisfying sound in football. Raphinha's strike was just heavenly, fucking magisterial.

Lamine Yamal is really special. Every time he receives the ball he is looking to beat his man. He isn't a one-trick pony who is only good in 1v1 or in wide areas. He can dribble his way out of a phone booth, beat 2 or 3 players with either foot, and play a beautiful trivela.

But they didn't outscore Inter. It was 3-3 and where lucky it wasn't 4-3.
There's still another 90 minutes to play. I thought a draw was a fair result. How many times did Barca hit the post? I don't like to discuss maybes, both teams had tons of chances, I can only evaluate the facts.

This Barca has resilience. They were down a goal with about 10 mins left vs Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. They were down 2 goals vs Atleti away in March. Down 3-1 vs Celta Vigo a few weeks ago. Down vs Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. Barca came back and won in all these games. Today they fought back from 2 goals down against Inter and I expect them to go through in the 2nd leg at San Siro.
