Probably in Croatia in some 10 years. I grew up watching top mids playing for my NT and they won 3rd at the WC in '98. Then another generation of top midfielders won 2nd in 2018. And I watched top midfielders in Juve. And now I get to watch fuckin' McKennie, Arthur and Rabiot.

I was born in 1979 and I remember well all those who played from 1988 till today. My personal favorites are Suker from Croatia, Stojkovic from Serbia, and Stoichkov from Bulgaria, but if I make a list I'd probably put Modric on top of it.
