just saw this, nice job from 'pool. @Enron
Yeah, I saw that one too. We have our moments offensively but unfortunately we have them on the other end as well. Just in the bad way.

I doubt that'll ever change under Klopp. You could put the Milan defence from 2005 back there and it'll still get exposed, just his style.

Yeah i get it, but the example is still hilarious actually. You could have said 2003 or 2007 or smth.
Nah 2005 had their best defence on paper. 2003 and 2007 was missing Jaap Stam and Cafu, in 2005 they had the record of keeping the most clean sheets as well. The final, or the 7 minutes, were indeed an anomaly.

Yeah, but there are things you can do to minimize the exposure. Playing wide open, high pressing footies is going to lead to a fair amount of goals against the run of play, but I feel there are a few areas we could limit mistakes in and end up saving us a load of points over the course of a season. Like not turning the ball over in your own zones. I don't know the actual statistics but a good chunk of goals we concede during play come from the mistakes of defenders trying to bring the ball out of the zone too quickly. And then there are the set piece goals. You can certainly minimize the two of those with coaching and better personnel.

They had Costacurta in 2003.

They conceded 3 against PSV in the knockouts in 2005.

Didnt Arsenal make some record in 2006 with clean sheets?

Was defense really an issue with Dortmund when Klopp was there?
