A lot of those goals are meaningless. They chalk up goals when teams are already winning and Ronaldo especially is a complete stat padder. If you count up how many meaningless goals Suarez Messi and Ronaldo score it's quite ridiculous.

Yet you only hear the "goals" argument when judging players these days. Suarez was by far the most effective player last season as even when he's not scoring he's completely hounding defenders/midfielders all game forcing them into mistakes and giving his team the advantage.

I would say 50% of their goals are meaningless and don't effect the outcome of the games at all.

Most of Ronaldo's goals are coming from 1-2 touches as well which is just making him a poacher yet he's this super awesome player who cuts through defences on his own making goals out of no where which is not true.

I hate this goal crazy era we are living in.

Goals are goals, they arent meaningless, unless its friendlies. They either make the game be assuredly closed by scoring plenty, like Messi vs City, giving no opening for comeback. Or vs shitty teams they are basically a practice for these insane level players to keep up their high level confidence. You can only face whats infront of you, and being that ridicolously efficient is truly inspiring regardless of how or when its scored. Its more ideal when you are doing it by being all around player active like Messi, but even as just a poacher like Cristiano its insane, keep your opponents at their toes at all times. Even if he is less likely to score in some bigger games because he doesnt create his own chances much and relies on his closed off teammates to make something happen, he still needs just a half a chance to score.

You can more easily remove an active player out of the game as he'll become less usefull

A poacher or player that likes to slip under the radar, doesnt mind, he's buiold to punish you on those moments you forgot him

How is it easier? A playmaking SS or wing forward is harder to keep quiet because he drops down and changes position a lot, drags defenders out of position and open space for teammates by being overly marked in awkward positions for defenders or midfielders.

Defenitely harder task for organised defence then a poacher type where with the latter you need to focus more on closing off his service.

I see your points but I still think too much emphasis is placed on goals when judging players these days. Iniesta for example is probably the best midfielder I have ever watched play yet he's not in the same bracket as Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Suarez. He is criminally under rated and should be up there with them when discussing the best players.

Iniesta is great but he isnt in their class because he isnt as much of a game changer, first of regardless of how great he is, there is different levels of it, and he is nowhere near Messi and Cristiano in honestly being comparable, its dishonest to say otherwise. And we cant ignore that Iniesta has declined past years despite still being very much a cerebral fixer in mid. He was much better when he used to play with Xavi.

Best Player in Europe 2012, Player of the tournament Euro 2012, Euro 2012 final MOTM and WC final MOTM.

He is a game changed just doesn't do it with goals and assists so people dont put him in the same bracket when his influence on games is more than those players regularly imo.

Perhaps he has declined now but in his prime he still didn't get as much recognition as he deserved.

How's Dubai? More plastic City Etihad fans or Qatari Barca wankers?

I watched the game at a shisha place it was 50/50 but my friend here says barca has a much bigger fan base. Abu Dhabi though is another story

IMO the farca disruption was base on how Xavi and Iniesta handled the tempo cuz they did exactly the same with their NT. Huge difference was brought into the play levels between Spain and Farca was Messi and an small part in Alves. Spain didn't have the pushing to break defenses like Farca because of the lack of those players which made a lot of their games quite boring. Again just my opinion
