The BTC Pipeline was funded by many U.K tax payers,it is the major pipeline that pumps Oil to Britain and around Europe(correct me if I'm wrong),but I know for definate that its Britains main source of Oil hence why we funded it,Tbh I really don't think Russia are willing to even 'accidently' destroy it,I really done feel there in any situation to have NATO and the EU knocking on its doors atm.
But as I see it, the question is why not accidently destroy it?

I think this would be the final straw from Britains point of view our economical situation isen't the greatest atm,and if they hit the Pipeline it would only get worse.,our Prime Minister made a statement today about the whole palava, but I'm sick of statements,Russia seems bent on Destroying Georgia,I would prefer Nato Officials to be flying to Russia holding crisis talks, maybe not possible, but don't just sit around drinking tea all day and watching 12 year old chinese girls in the Olympics. There needs to be more action.Sorry for my rant.:p

I agree with much of what you have written, but I believe in this instance you have taken it a little far. You don't have proof of the United States setting Georgia up for destruction just for the sake of natural resources. Last time I checked, Georgia doesn't have much oil compared to Iraq, except for what runs through the BTC Pipeline.

While the US has exploited various places for resources, such as Kosova, you can't assume the US had a hand in this conflict because Russia isn't exactly willing to do business with us regarding Georgia.
Time will tell, maybe they're both fighting it out for something we arent aware of as of yet, maybe all this has nothing to do with georgia, maybe its the American vs Russian war on Georgian soil, Russia trying to break the Georgian American alliance, by proving to the georgians no one will be there for there aid now that they bombed the living shit out of them, and its turning out to be true.

but then again i wont single out the other criteria i mentioned either, anything is plausible.

theres many reasons as to why this fight mightve broke out, you have to take into consideration when you think of it on a larger scale, Georgia is an american ally, a country where the US could use to deploy its Missile shield in the future like it was trying to do in Poland, and the Russians might've used these means to stand in the face of the U.S and show them, things wont go down as they please.

but again time will tell, everything eventually comes out

You know, Russia holds 25% of the crude reserves in Europe (or perhaps even the world). With regard to finance, I could see why it would be beneficial to the Russians to destroy the BTC as that would mean Russian companies supplying more crude to the market.

In some ways, I don't see why not just blow that fucker up. I'm sure the Russians have discussed it.

For sure they've discussed it,But in the long run it isen't the best of moves.Because you would be getting other countries involed that Russia would prefer to keep out,And i diden't know that about Russia holding 25% of the Oil reserves, cheers for that Andy.

It very well could be US versus Russia. Makes sense considering what happened with Kosova. Actually, this reasoning probably makes the most sense because what would Russia want with Georgia that they don't already have? Georgians were killing Russian "peacekeepers" in South Ossetia? Russian isn't a fucking charity organization, and neither is the United States.

So yes... I think the US vs. CCCP is the most likely cause of this conflict. Russia wants payback for Kosova, and they will probably get that and more with Georgia.

True, Russia may just want to keep this a US ordeal, but then again as far as I know some of the crude from the BTC is shipped to the US. It may take a while, but still, it probably gets here.

Sort of the point I was making, was that BTC is our main source of Oil,we wasted our North Sea Oil and now rely on other Nations for most resources,I'm not sure what other countries we get Oil from I'll need to research that.Lets just say the BTC pipeline does get blown up,Countries can start to charge us whatever prices they wish for there Oil,because they know were in demand for it.Hence another Economical meltdown for us.

Indeed. With less supply on the market, the exchanges in New York and London would probably figure out a price for sweet and brent crude that would be pretty high - perhaps not astronomical as there are other ways to ship crude to Europe, but it would be a major supply shock that would hurt the market.

Looking at the oil pits now at NYMEX, the traders there seem to be unconcerned with the situation in Georgia, hence why the price for a barrel fell today once again. Many times situations such as conflicts are factored into the market before things happen (buy on rumor), but now crude keeps falling. If the pipeline is destroyed who knows what would happen in the crude markets.

True. His home could be bombed in the coming days. His family is probably from Tbilisi and that is next on the hit list.
