Hm. I wonder what Francis Fukuyama would think if this really is about ideological differences.
I don't care really. He will just change his opinion once he's wrong again without taking any blame whatsoever, so screw that guy.

Plus he defends Scooter Libby, so I say ship this Fukuyama freak over to Tbilisi so he can die as well. He's a walking hypocrite.

    Yeah you are probably watching too much Russian TV;

    YOU GUYS DONT KNOW THE HISTORY OF GEORGIA and THE ESSENSE OF PROBLEM and GEORGIA/RUSSIAN RELATIONSHIP , otherse you wouldnt say that!

    It doesnt matter who started, we were ready (and ceased fire several times) and are ready to stop it;

    THis is and was Georgias intergral terriotory;

    Our troops are controlling 80% of South Ossethia, but fucking Russian planes are bombing NOT THE REGION OF CONFLICT BUT OTHER DITANT REGIONS WITH INNONCENT PEOPLE! They Also completely destroyed the Ossethian villages and towns, and then they say that they protect their citizens, This is bullshit; they killed more than probably Georgian troops; Now they are very close to capital TBILISI;

    Imagine that 12 planes were already shot down, thats hell of a cost, and also russian economy starts to struggle;

    Comon people First its GEORGIA! and then it comes EUROPE! Russians are anexors and agressors;

    THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORT!

    Now the Russians are starting to bomb Poti, a port city with a lot of oil. They're also bombing pretty close to the BTC Pipeline, the premier pipeline that transports 2 million barrels of crude to the West every single day.

    You know, Bush is sitting their right now in Beijing watching swimming while this stuff is going on. The Russians are going to take back Georgia and the West is going to be sorry about that. Too bad nobody seems like they want to address this issue until it's too late.

    THEY ARE GONNA B VERY SORRY BELIEVE ME; MANY OF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT RUSSIANS ARE CAPABLE OF; DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THE RUSSIA OF STALIN PERIOD HAS CHANGED?? SAME FUCKING PEOPLE!!!

    THEY ARE GONNA GET YOU!
    EUROPE IS ALREADY SITTING ON THEIR GAS!

    ---------------

    WE CEASED FIRE SEVERAL TIMES TO LET INNONCENT PEOPLE LEAVE, BUT THEY ARE NOT STOPING.

    But the least people could do is pressure Russia to stop the attacks in some fashion. I don't know how that would be possible though because Medvedev doesn't trust the UN, so any facet of that organization won't make a difference. The best bet is always economic sanctions as most wars are fought over economic concerns, and this is potentially another example of that as Russia would love to interrupt crude flow to the West and also have a win against the Democracy-loving US.

    That BTC Pipeline is only five years old IIRC but it's a crucial part of the West's petroleum infrastructure. You know, I don't believe Russia receives any crude from the pipeline despite it flowing through their former states. So I wonder if they would be considering an accidental bombing/mishap blamed on fighting between the two nations in question to partially disrupt the crude flow to the West. Now if that were to happen, Europeans and the US would probably have no choice but to get involved.

    I don't know if the Russians would be crazy enough to do such a thing, but I also don't know how many people understand the importance of Georgia in the present day. The US government probably understands, but Bush doesn't seem to care.

    YES THE SANCTIONS ARE NEEDED!
    RUSSIANS WOULD DO ANYTHING! THEY HAVE HUGE CASUALTIES, 12 PLANES 80 TANKS but THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL!!!

    Oh god, please, do not bring the DISTANT history of the fictitious Georgia into this discussion.

    I agree with you the Russians are killing innocent people, but this stuff was bound to happen.

    I haven't heard about 80 tanks destroyed (actually I doubt 80 tanks probably more like 20) but I have heard about the Russian fighters. Moreover, I also doubt the huge casualties you're talking about, because they have by far the superior army. And even if they did have so many deaths, they could easily send in more troops within a day.

    I don't want this on your people, koSTARica, but this doesn't look good at all. However, I'm more on Georgia's side, that's for sure. Not because I like you lot, but because there are many around the world that would support killing innocent people just because the winners are against the US.

    Georgia has been pro western since the early 90's I believe. So it's not about "going", it's about "already there." At least for Russia.

    I think Georgia were tricked into this by the West. And if that were true they need to fix it. What were they thinking attacking Russia!
    Dumb move and now innocent people have to die. A huge part of the blame is on Georgia
